We needed a bigger vehicle for our growing family and really couldn't pull the trigger on a mini van. We really liked the look of a Chevy Traverse, and wanted third row seating as well as the safety and really couldn't pull the trigger on a mini van. We really liked the look of a Chevy Traverse, and wanted third row seating as well as the safety and comfort that an AWD SUV provides, particularly in the winter. We also wanted to support a local dealer and an American car manufacturer. So we "built" one on the Chevy website Sunday night and received a phone call and email from Katie on Monday morning from Paul Masse Chevy South, a long-established dealer on Main St in Wakefield, RI, our home town. She was super nice. They didn't have exactly what we were looking for at the dealership but she was confident they could locate one no problem. I arranged for a visit. She couldn't meet with us at the first time I suggested, but she could meet us later in the day. Easy-peezy. No big deal. I appreciated the honesty. Other reps would have had us come down anyway and made us wait just to secure the sale at all costs. Good so far. My wife and I showed up with our two kids and Katie was wonderful in person as well. Maybe it's a small thing, but eye contact and a confident handshake speaks more to trust for me than rattling off specs and incentives (which she did as well, of course. She knows her stuff!). Normally, we bring the kids when we shop for new cars because we obviously want their input, but also because when they enevitably ramp up and get crazy in the showroom, it tends to speed things along when reps start playing games like keeping us there forever, making pretend trips to the manager, steering us towards a car on the lot, etc. However, Katie actually seemed to really like our kids, and they liked her. She actually engaged with them as we all took a test drive, showing them cool features in the rear seats of the Traverse, playing with the cup holders and heat/AC controls while my wife and I tested acceleration, handling, and braking. So much for that plan! We told her we were a little shocked at the sticker. She said to think about it and give her a call when we were ready for her to find the Traverse we wanted. It took a number of days, but Katie was persistent. She pushed, but never obnoxiously. When we asked her flat out if there were any more discounts or rebates, she was simply honest with us without beating around the bush, or saying anything ridiculous like, "What's it gonna take to get you in a car today?" It was a welcomed change for my wife and I, especially since this was hardly the first time we've bought a new car. We always go into these things with our game-faces on, ready to combat all those tried and tested car dealer tactics. Wait, a rep who is honest, competent, and fair? And likes our kids? I contacted Ms Leonard on Tuesday via e-mail describing the truck that I wanted. She contacted me almost immediately, and started looking for the truck I wanted. The next day, I went to the dealership to f the truck that I wanted. She contacted me almost immediately, and started looking for the truck I wanted. The next day, I went to the dealership to find the exact truck that I was looking for. Friday night I drove off the lot with my dream truck, at a price MUCH lower than expected, and much lower than competitors prices. I consistantly get excellent service at Paul Masse. The price is fair and they are diligent about keeping the car safe and in good running order.
