Yes, I would like to remind all of Subaru, that your company may be held liable if the safety recall that I was scheduled for, attended and was denied a free replacement of an affected part of the vehicle which creates a dangerous situation that could cause an accident or worse, possibly kill someone. I was denied this mandatory replacement because of having aftermarket parts on my vehicle. I cannot locate any pertinent data that states that I cannot have aftermarket parts on my vehicle and be denied a safety recall. Your service departments reason was because of my previously unknown aftermarket intercooler (which was already installed on my vehicle when I bought it and I thought it was stock OEM). The intercooler does not affect the part which is responsible for the mechanical failure and therefore has no ability, reason or possibility to be any cause for this light switch to fail. The NHTSA report says, "The operating environment of the backup lamp switch may expose the internal switch contacts to heated oil. When heated, sulfur in the oil may cause a chemical reaction with the materials used on the switch terminal contact surfaces and plate spring. This chemical reaction may cause corrosion and a non-conductive film to form on the contacts resulting in poor electrical conductivity." "The statement from the NHTSA says the defect can result in the backup lights not illuminating and the rear-view camera image not displaying when the vehicle is in reverse. And every time I operate this vehicle (which should have been remedied by now), I am taking a risk. I won't get into it, but you have no idea how much you have turned your back on me. One percent of your vehicles but you have made it 100% my problem. Your company hires bean-counters to calculate the possibility of a mechanical failure and the cost of making the necessary repairs to all affected vehicles affected by any potential failures vs. the cost that you are willing to fork over to affected customers should they lose life, limb or the ability to even want to be your customer in the future. I will not accept or allow your money driven company to weasel your way out of a couple hundred bucks and an hour of your mechanics time to put me in the position of having my xxx locked up for potential vehicular manslaughter. The law states that you must make the necessary replacement to remedy the problem by either fixing it, replacing the vehicle itself or provide me with a full refund. I was told that this problem would have to come out of my pocket. You know what will come out of my pocket too since I cannot afford it??? Fines for creating a hazardous situation that could cause damage to my and or any other vehicles / property and or unfortunate individuals that are unaware of my intentions when operating this vehicle in the state that you have returned it to me. I could also go to prison for possible homicide because your company has not only ducked and dogged me this time, but you have done it once before for another previous recall. Twice I have been denied, both for parts that were offered to be replaced free of charge by Subaru but have passed the buck to the guy who has the worst luck that you can imagine. I am serious. Due to the shear possibility of this causing me to potentially put me in the hot seat and the sudden consecutive mechanical failures that have occurred in a very suspicious pattern, I have decided that I want a full refund because I no longer trust your company, your products, or your attempts to screw me on more than one occasion. I will be contacting the necessary entities to officially report this and will be enlisting the assistance of a lawyer so that I can at least know that I am being screw by someone other than Subaru.
