I bought my Toyota Corolla new from Peterson Toyota here in Boise in 1995. The sales experience was good, the car has been rock-solid reliable, and the few occasions that I have had to bring it in for serv in Boise in 1995. The sales experience was good, the car has been rock-solid reliable, and the few occasions that I have had to bring it in for service in the past has gone well. I recently took the car in to the Peterson service department for six minor repairs. Of those six, only one was done to my satisfaction -- the drive belts were replaced. Of the remaining five, there were various problems: 1. I asked for a transmission flush and fill service, which I expected to include the fluid and a labor charge. In addition to the two charges, there was a third charge which was not clearly explained until two requests and almost two weeks later. 2. I had an alignment done. The alignment report was not included in the paperwork I received, and it took two requests and almost two weeks to get the alignment report. The alignment report I received still had three specs that were red and not green. I don't know what all the numbers mean on an alignment report, but they sure look like the job was not done completely. 3. When I called to make the service appointment -- about a week in advance -- I asked them to replace the antenna. What I received was pricing for how much it would cost to replace the antenna. I did not receive the service I requested in this case. At least they did not charge me for this one. 4. The brake light was coming on. They investigated, found the problem, and added a little brake fluid. And charged 1/2 hour of labor for it ($50), which seems a little steep since the alignment that was partly done (see #2 above) was $90. 5. I asked about a rattling noise associated with the radio. They investigated, found the problem, but did not fix it. $100. Any one of the above problems I would probably be OK with, and individually they're hard to argue with. However, adding them all up made me feel that they were taking every available opportunity to charge me more money without providing much value. Across the six problems that I paid nearly $700 for, I feel like I only got maybe $400 or $500 in value, even after accounting for the fact that I know dealership service departments tend to be more expensive than independent shops. Also, I didn't get much of a response from Peterson on my questions until I threatened to do a chargeback on my credit card. More

Service has been good to very good. However, the last two visits have resulted in some question in my mind that gas is being removed from the tank. The most recent event occurred when I took my Prius in two visits have resulted in some question in my mind that gas is being removed from the tank. The most recent event occurred when I took my Prius in for a service recall. I noticed shortly after the visit that my gas tank gauge indicated 1/4 tank left (two bars). I had very recently filled the tank and the mileage indicator showed I had gone 94 miles since the fill up. At 46 miles/gallon, which is what my indicated miles/gallon showed, I had used 2 gallons of gas since the last gas fill up. I notified the service department and left an email on the Peterson Toyota website. I took a picture of the gas gauge with my camera which is time and date stamped, but other than the picture, I can't prove anything happened. I park my car in the garage at night and since I filled up on a Friday evening, the vehicle had not been left where gas could have been taken. There was no damage to the gas tank cover. The only place it was out of my possession was at Peterson's. I have no reason to dislike Peterson Toyota or anyone that works there but this event and possible another makes me very hesitant to return. I will most likely take my vehicles to another dealer for service (I also have a RAV4). I wish my concerns have been addressed but as of this review, I am unsatisfied and will take my business elsewhere, just to be safe. More

bought a New Sienna from Peterson a year ago w dlr accessories installed. had to bring vehicle back 3 and 4 overnights to be told No Problem, after being told during first 2 visits that their was a pr accessories installed. had to bring vehicle back 3 and 4 overnights to be told No Problem, after being told during first 2 visits that their was a problem.... diagnosis originally was "unidentified battery drain", after days of diagnosis, dlr shifted to "no problem, just bad battery". When I went to pick up vehicle on last diagnosis/service loose parts were found on floor board, which extended my stay at the dealership, having to go back in and say "hey there are some parts on the floor board, not put back in."...just adding fuel to the fire, it took 3 people coming and going to fix the unfinished parts being installed. I have brought both my Toyotas in to Peterson for everything, and usually it has gone well, but last visit was a comedy of errors (frustrating). It leaves doubt in my mind that the actual problem has even been fixed.... I hope that it does not lead to a dead battery with my wife and kids somewhere. Also, service writer should have been much more proactive in calling me for updates, and confusion between accessories department and service department of WHO was supposed to be taking care of us, was frustrating. What a great group of people at Peterson's! Everyone was friendly, and stayed late Saturday evening to make sure I was taken care of. This was the best experience I've ever had buying a car.
