It had to be spacious enough to allow me to put a wheelchair behind the driver’s seat. I had been to several dealerships and in all cases the cars were either too small or the center console obstructed the wheelchair. With the Accord, the car was spacious enough, but the center console was still in the way. That’s when the manager, sales consultant and service personnel started to brainstorm the problem. Joe Jr, their fantastic mechanic, took on the challenge of making the car accessible. He worked with me every step of the way, and managed to modify the console in such a way that it was still functional but also accessible. Jerry Alexander, my sales consultant, stayed late and even came in on his day off to expedite the process. It never occurred to me that a dealership would go to such lengths to enable me to acquire the car I needed. More
