I met with a salesman named Jonathan on Saturday August 11, 2012 and was disappointed by his attitude. He would not reduce his asking price and asked me why did I even bother to visit the dealer. I took my 2003 4Runner in for a 50,000 mile service at which time I asked them (for a second time) to get rid of the rattle from my sunroof (that ony developed after Price replaced the seal a few years back) and they informed me that the tracks were worn out and they needed to replace the entire sunroof. I don't use it. I've had it opened maybe 2 dozen times since I bought the vehicle in 2003! but they'll fix it for the tidy sum of $2,500. I said NO to that. Too much like work for them, obviously. The other thing was a loose running light (that "another dealer" under my insurance carrier failed to tighten down after a minor fender bender repair) on the front bumper. They only wanted $450 for that little job. I would have paid extra to have it fixed at Price but that amount was over and above. Again, too much like work for them. They couldn't be bothered. Also, they said the serpentine belt needed to be replaced. They said it was cracked. I reminded them that they replaced it only one year ago for several hundred dollars. Suddenly, after they looked at it again, it was just fine and no longer needed replacement. Praise the Lord. It had miraculously healed itself! When it suddenly looked like it might cost them money under warranty it no longer needed replacement. What a load. So, just new front brake pads, tune-up and fluid checks for a total of $814. They were never like this before. Gone way downhill. Trying anything to pad the bill. Sayonara, Price Toyota! More
Have a 2007 Prius and after 6 months of ownership with the 7 year full extended warranty the headlights started to go out. Told this was $300.00 to replace the headlight and not covered by warranty. Of co the 7 year full extended warranty the headlights started to go out. Told this was $300.00 to replace the headlight and not covered by warranty. Of course Toyota eventually decides to do a recall on the headlights and you can have them replaced if under 50,000 miles (ours in now at 51,000 miles) and now on hot days the the lower shift assembly pops out of gear and will only stay on reverse or nuetral. Both of this issues I consider safety issues. Of course this happens 100 miles outside of warranty. After my husband talked to service about these issues they so nicely told us 'sorry your out of luck" and the warranty we were so nicely talked into buying but never told was from a third party not Toyota. We then called "Stoney" Price Toyota's GM explained our problems with the car and he agreed with us and agreed to split the cost of repairs, he just needed to chat with Service first and they would call us back. Later that day service did indeed call and agreed with us also stating spliting the cost was very do-able and just needed to verify the story with "Stoney" would call us back in two days since the next day wa a holiday. One week later no return calls, we have called both Service and Stoney many times with leaving voice mail and have not received a phone call back to date! If they had no intent to help why offer? I walked into the Showroom and my wife and I were immediately greeted by Larry. He answered all questions quickly and there was absolutely no BS. I can genuinely tell that he was "helping" us buy a c immediately greeted by Larry. He answered all questions quickly and there was absolutely no BS. I can genuinely tell that he was "helping" us buy a car and not looking to sell us a car. HUGE difference. We went over all pricing for 2 vehicles and came in BELOW our asking monthly payment by about $30. They were VERY generous with the trade-in value of our car (sight-unseen!). He took every question seriously and investigated all pricing questions we had. When it came down to signing the final papers to buy the car, all the pricing was EXACTLY was we discussed (I've never seen that happen before EVER). Great experience and we drove home with a new car within hours. I would absolutely go back and suggest this dealership to others. More
Do you know that revolting feeling of being cheated as a customer? The feeling you’ve paid for something that was not done or delivered? Well, that’s how I’m feeling today after coming back from the Price customer? The feeling you’ve paid for something that was not done or delivered? Well, that’s how I’m feeling today after coming back from the Price Toyota dealership in Wilmington, Delaware. Today, July 6, 2011 I took my Toyota Venza 2009 for the 25,000 mile service. After waiting for some 10 to 15 minutes the service representative showed up, asking what I wanted. I told him why I was there, and that I had some complaints about the 20,000 mile service performed back in January 2011 (I had already mentioned to the service scheduler, when I called for the service appointment, that I had a complaint). His quick response was that he would have a different technician work on the car this time, without asking what had gone wrong. I then asked him: “Would you like to know what my complaint is about, so that it can be properly addressed and not repeated?” No response, as he turned away telling me to follow him to the service balcony. Once at the balcony I said: “Several issues went wrong during the last service. The first one is that I believe that you (the dealership) did not use the Mobil 1 synthetic oil I asked and paid for.” “There’s no way of knowing the difference between a normal oil and a synthetic oil”, he said “Well”, I replied, “I’ve been using Mobil 1 for several years, and there is a clear and distinguishable difference between the coloration of Mobil 1 and a normal oil” “That’s a myth”, he said, “I use Mobil 1 in my turbo engine, and there’s no difference” Seeing I was not being taken seriously, I then asked: “Can you please bring a sample of Mobil 1?” He brought a sample of Mobil 1. “OK, now can you bring a sample of the normal oil you use?” I asked He brought that also. Both oils were poured into a small cap, and of course there was a significant difference in coloration. “I don’t see any difference in color”, the service representative said. “…and if you want to use synthetic oil then you should bring it yourself”. “Well apparently we have a difference of opinion”, I said, “and the only way to solve this is to have the oil currently in my car undergo a laboratory test, to see who is right”. The service representative then laughed at my face and said “No way are we going to do a laboratory testing”. Not to further ruin my day I simply said “Thank you very much for your services”, and left. The other issues that that I wasn’t even able to address are: • At the 20,000 mile service the fluid levels were not checked and toped off (coolant, windshield washer, break). Tire pressures were also not checked and adjusted. • At that time I had a complaint about a strong rattling noise coming from behind the instrument dashboard. The noise is still there and getting worse! From some research I’ve done on the internet apparently the problem is with the steering wheel column – which I consider to be a serious safety issue! Now I need to find another dealership to go to. The other one nearby is under the same ownership (Newark Toyota, in Delaware), and also has a bad service reputation. How do I get my car serviced now? No way I’m going back to a dealership that can’t stand behind the quality of their service, and mistreats their customers! More
