Ray Skillman Westside Restores Faith A few weeks ago a piece of body trim broke off of our ‘17 CX3. Though we had not hit anything and nothing hit us, it was difficult to imagine how this A few weeks ago a piece of body trim broke off of our ‘17 CX3. Though we had not hit anything and nothing hit us, it was difficult to imagine how this piece broke off. I had taken it to the Mazda dealer in Westfield because that’s where we bought it and because we live about three minutes from there. I knew how it looked and wasn’t sure what to expect when I had it looked at. I didn’t really expect to get it repaired under warranty although that is what I thought should have happened. The last thing I expected was to basically be called a liar. The service manager looked at the car for maybe 30 seconds and declared that I had obviously hit something that caused the damage. I knew for a fact this was not the case as I was there when it happened but the indifference and “tough luck” attitude was not what I expected as a returning customer. He simply said Mazda wouldn’t pay for it. He asked me if I wanted it and when I said not if I had to pay for it he literally shouted back to the service desk to cancel that order. I was shocked and very angry at how I felt I was treated. I had bought my ‘16 Mazda3 a bit over a year before at Ray Skillman Westside mainly because it was the only dealership in central Indiana that had a stick shift in stock. Though inconvenient I decided Roush did not deserve my business. I brought my CX3 to Skillman and was greeted by Karri Campbell. I related my story to Karri and she listened with a sympathetic ear. I must have still appeared very angry but I tried to be polite and I told her explicitly that I expected to pay for the repair as I had not purchased the car there. She went to the back to check on a price and after a few minutes came back and said she discussed my story with her Mazda parts rep and offered to pay for the part if I paid for the labor. I was very pleasantly surprised and impressed and honestly a little embarrassed that I had projected my anger at someone who did not deserve it. This whole mess was over an $87 part with $60 worth of labor. It is an example of how poorly one CSR handled a situation and how fantastically another CSR handled it. Karri is an outstanding example of someone who cares about her customers. I will always take my cars to Ray Skillman Westside even though it is out of the way and Roush is only a few minutes from my house. Roush will never see me again and I will tell anyone who asks about my experience. More

New Mazda6 Signature This was our first time buying a new Mazda. We stopped by the Skillman dealership on the Saturday right after closing. John Bland a salesman came out and worked with us well after closing time. We came back the following Monday and we're undecided on which car to buy so sales manager Barry Morris told us to take one of the Mazda6 home to try out. We ended up buying a Mazda signature. Very good experience with everyone involved. No pressure very easy to deal with. Financing was handled very efficiently and process was very quick. I would highly recommend this dealership and the people working there. More

Manager Patrick and Salesman Henry were wonderful! From the first phone call that was returned, we were very impressed. Jeff called us with a no nonsense deal on a new Hyundai Elantra, and Henry immed From the first phone call that was returned, we were very impressed. Jeff called us with a no nonsense deal on a new Hyundai Elantra, and Henry immediately took us on a test drive when we arrived at the dealership. He helped us determine precisely which Elantra we wanted through his excellent knowledge of the vehicle, and made sure the car we decided upon arrived at the dealership as soon as possible, with only 37 miles on it. He cleaned the car perfectly, and sent us off in it understanding the vehicle, and very excited about the purchase we'd made. We were greatly impressed with both Henry and Jeff. The only concern we had was the way we seemed pressured by the financial person, Bryan?, to purchase additional "warranty" products. We expressed that we wanted to pay in cash. He helped us understand how to do that very well. We did feel pressured, however, to purchase extended warranty products after we expressed we were uninterested. There was also a $250 charge for "vehicle security on the lot" and "theft insurance" that was added to the bill. I caught it when Henry was explaining the bill line by line (very thoroughly), and Henry and Jeff assured us it would be removed. The financial person, however, who was ultimately responsible for removing it, made that process more difficult and time consuming than it had to be, It was unfortunate. We know the dealership makes money on those products, but we were not interested in them -- our decision should have been accepted outright with a smile, so he could move on to the next sale. He was cordial and kind, not gruff, but the pressure seemed silly. All it did was annoy us and waste our time -- we weren't going to purchase the extra products anyway. But overall, it was an EXCELLENT experience -- we intend on using the dealership for service when we can for our new car, and would buy another car from Jeff and Henry any day. Thank you both!!! More
