I've brought my car to this dealership for 14 years and generally had good experience and good service. However, I took my car in for squealing brakes on3/28 AND ad defroster light that blinked upon starti generally had good experience and good service. However, I took my car in for squealing brakes on3/28 AND ad defroster light that blinked upon starting the engine for about a minute. Agreed to Service advisor's recommendation for a brake inspection and pay $99 for diagnostic fee for blinking light. Advisor called later an said brakes were good (7) and the squealing is from morning dew on brakes (I told advisor the car is parked in garage, so no dew. Also, it squeals when the car has been driven a long time and when the weather is hot. Also, these brakes were installed at THIS dealership in 2022 with Genuine OEM parts which should NOT squeal. Advisor said blinking light was a SAFETY feature to prevent the system from overheating, even though it blinks on initial start in the morning when engine is cold!! Obviously, no one was knowledgeable about either problem. So, I'm out of $99 and brakes still squealing and defrost light still blinks in the morning. Maybe the service technician didn't know what they were talking about and the service advisor simply repeated what he/she without question. I hope the issue was with the service advisor or technician and not the service dept as a whole, but it appears service at this dealership has declined in recent years. More

I bought a car December 23, 2025. Maverick Dodd pressured me into buying a maintenance plan that I didn't need. I cancelled it the next day. I should have gotten a refund in 45 days. I noticed that Group 1 is not going to give me a refund. I HAVE TO CALL TOYOTA TO STEP IN!! I just got my refund after 3 months waiting!! I called the General Manager Shelby Holly and she will not return my call. She gets the salesman to call me. I took my fingernail to remove the "Rivertown Toyota" decal off my car. I have a hurt every time I see it. They could get more business by being honest to people instead of taking advantage of them. I will not return to Group 1 Toyota for service. Hutchinson Toyota in Albany Georgia has good service department but their sales department is no better than Rivertown Toyota in Columbus Georgia. I paid about $2000.00 too much for the vehicle. I really don't know where to buy a Toyota without a hassle. That's sad. More
