Buyer beware. This dealership sold me a vehicle without disclosing significant damage and poor paint repairs. When I brought it to their attention just one day later, they initially refused to take the vehicle back and blamed me for not catching it during the sale—even though their own inspectors should have identified these issues. The repair quality was abysmal. Additionally, the rear tire near the damaged area was shredding and wearing excessively compared to the others. It was an absolute nightmare that eventually required me to threaten legal action and a report to Consumer Affairs. After a long back-and-forth—and being gaslit by staff—they finally agreed to take the car back. Upon further inspection, the door hinge bolts had been disturbed (a clear sign the doors were removed) and every door had been repainted. It appears the right side was either sideswiped or the vehicle rolled. Since the previous owner worked for this dealership, it was likely repaired by a third party to keep the damage off the Carfax report. This business is incredibly shady. They could have resolved this with a simple apology—which I never received—and by taking the car back initially instead of wasting my time. I will never return to this dealership and will be sharing my story with everyone I can. More

Before you look at buying a car or truck from Ron Tonkin Toyota, you should know this. I started negotiating a car deal with them today on January 15, 2026. I have a car to trade in and they not only came i Toyota, you should know this. I started negotiating a car deal with them today on January 15, 2026. I have a car to trade in and they not only came in low on the trade value price, which can happen but then they tried to also sell me an inferior model of the car I specifically said I was interested in. - - Then they told me they needed the VIN number of the car I was looking at on THEIR website, when my original note was already attached to their ad for that specific car. Moreover, when I looked and found the car again on their website, they had now raised the price of the same car by over $3,000 from what it was just a few hours before. - And their excuse to me, prices do fluctuate. So this is a dealership that will try and sell you an inferior model of the car that you originally said you were interested in and then actually raise the price of the specific car you wanted by over $3,000, just in case you do not fall for their first pitch, while then hoping that you won't notice the 2nd one. So in other words, you cannot trust them. With that in mind, why would you buy a car from a dealership that has management that will not only try and take advantage of you not just once, but twice. That was my first and last buying experience with Ron Tonkin Toyota of Portland. More
