I took my BMW (which I had purchased there) in for an oil change. The service writer tried to upsell me on $2,620 of extra work "suggested by BMW," handing me ten pages of printouts from the BMW "CBS" compu change. I took the print out home and compared the parts prices on it to those available online at other BMW parts websites and dealers. Santa Monica BMW's quoted parts prices were over double what you would pay elsewhere. One of the "suggested" service options that Santa Monica BMW told me I needed was new spark plugs, for a total of $1,100 with labor. He also told me my car needed a new air filter, at a cost of $80 for the filter and $230 for labor. The same air filter is $32.50 at GetBMWParts.com. My car only has 4,000 miles on the odometer! An extremely devious and disreputable dealership, to say the least. Obviously, my service writer (and all the others) have been coached by dealership staff on how to rip-off customers bringing their cars in for service. I will never return to Santa Monica BMW and will tell everyone I know about my experience there. Outrageous! More

It seems like they rushed through the repair and/or the mechanic doesn't know what he was doing as the service was incomplete. They forgot to connect the turbo intercooler pipes, didn't reset the oil ligh mechanic doesn't know what he was doing as the service was incomplete. They forgot to connect the turbo intercooler pipes, didn't reset the oil light, and claimed the crack memory buttons on the radio was due to scratches, thus not covered by warranty. The radio memory buttons were replaced last service for being cracked. I drove the car a total of 200 miles since then, and never used the buttons. BMW Santa Monica is probably one of the worse dealerships in California. More

I came by at the end of the day to get two issues resolved -- a tire problem and help with inputting my 6 phone numbers into the autodial system in my car. Very frustrating -- as least someone could have told me that the techs were gone for the day -- or something - - but nothing. More
