Best dealership service in my experience I've had Chrysler and VW cars, and I've worked with four different VW dealerships (all of which were superior to Chrysler), and Schmelz Countryside VW I've had Chrysler and VW cars, and I've worked with four different VW dealerships (all of which were superior to Chrysler), and Schmelz Countryside VW is by far the best of all---in every way. Every service representative that's helped me has been excellent, but over the years I've ended up using Shevawn, who is just so fun to work with. She's helped me out with routine and emergency situations, and has made life so much easier for me. A year ago I purchased a car with the help of Ralph Ludden, who was patient, absolutely non-pressuring, and extremely helpful. It was the best car purchasing experience I've ever had. I love Volkswagen and Schmelz Countryside. More

I didn't feel pressured at any point, and the experience was positive overall. The only negative of the experience was waiting almost three hours to talk to finance and finish the deal, and there was only one customer ahead of me. Both of the finance guys were new so hopefully they can improve this side of things. Once it was my turn it only took 15 minutes, so I'm guessing some of the blame lies with the customer in front of me. More

I needed to call him later in the week about an error light that came on about tire pressure, and he was very nice about having me stop back in again so they can take a look at it. As always, I am promptly approached by Shavonn Berg (service rep) with a big smile and friendly greeting. I usually will wait for the vehicle; so was directed to the lounge area. I was told it would take about 2 hours, which is exactly how long it was. The car was also washed (greatly appreciated). We were on the road by 1330. Can't say enough about the service and also the sales rep, Ralph Ludden. He always remembers my husband and I as well, and we are greeted with a friendly hello and a little visit. More

Not treated as valued customers Horrible customer service. Went in to activate a gift card that we were given for purchasing a car there. Literally bought the car not long ago. They wanted a copy of the title, which we don't have because vw has the lien and loan on it. They insisted that we had to have it in order to prove proof of ownership and so they can make sure we are the right full owner of the gift card. First, the car was purchased right at their dealership with their finance, they should have had proof of ownership right there. Second, the gift card had our name printed on it and we had our Id. Third, they said they needed pictures of our car to prove we still own the car. It was sitting right out side their window... Duh people. We were treated like xxxx. Not like we just bought a $40000 car from them and they were thankful. We will never go back. No purchases, no service, and will not recommend them to anyone else. More

This is until the sale is complete then it is buyer beware. I did buy a used vehicle "as is" but they assured me it had passed the million point inspection that they do with their used vehicles. I have now owned the car for just less than 2 months, have put in over 700 into repairs, spent 2 days totaling close to 8 hours at the dealership waiting for it to get fixed and on a $12,500 vehicle. I talked with the sales associate and then John Schmeltz himself who stated in a nutshell not much i can do for you, you bought it as is. He was very gracious and knocked off a total of 200 so the bill was close to 900. Now it has been 5 days since it was last in the shop with Schmeltz and the light is back on. This car is a lemon. So buyer beware when dealing with Schmeltz. I would think that you would be willing to work with your consumers more than telling them it is basically their fault for buying from us. I have dealt with other dealerships and they are more than willing to work with customers. I understand that if this were to have happened say 6 months down the road, yeah its on me but it didnt and Schmeltz was not willing to work with me. One other issue i have with this whole buying a car from Schmelz Countryside is when purchasing the vehicle the dealership was to replace an outlet door. We are currently on our 4th order, 2 wasted trips down to the dealership to get the "right" part just to have them order the wrong part. I have had 2 parts guys in my car and a third on the phone with VW home office, they still have not ordered the right part. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL More
