TLDNR; Serramonte Subaru Service Department (SSSD) installed a new battery on my used 2015 Forester. Vehicle qualified under the class action settlement for battery issues. Service Manager tried to ta installed a new battery on my used 2015 Forester. Vehicle qualified under the class action settlement for battery issues. Service Manager tried to talk me out of installing a new Subaru battery, saying an independent shop may be cheaper and the warranty would only cover so much (total cost was 120$ after the extended warranty deduction). I declined; believing a qualified dealership would give better service and guarantee their work. I was dead wrong. Car would not start one hour after driving it off the lot. Returned to SSSD and they said it wasn’t their fault, must be some other issue with the electrical/ Ignition system, refused to run any diagnostic or confirm any inspection of these systems were performed after the installation. Their one solution: make an appt for another day, get charged $230 to run a diagnostic, nothing else they can do. — My recommendation for anyone looking to go here, is to save your hard earned income and try supporting a small family owned auto body/ repair shop. There’s plenty in the SF area that deserve and would appreciate your patronage and perform quality work with enthusiasm and care for you and your used vehicle. Recommend: Finks Automotive, Alameda CA United Auto Collision Center, 1369 Rollins Rd Burlingame CA Both offered to diagnose the potential issue (starter), offered to order a new Subaru part. Quoted labor and parts at 1/3 of what Serramonte Subaru was charging. The service department at Serramonte demonstrated a lack of customer service, professionalism, and quality of work performed. I can only speak to my experience here, which earned them my one star review. From previous reviews however, you can see a pattern; if it’s not a brand new car they’re selling you, or servicing for you under warranty, they will not provide you good/quality service. For any future customers looking to service their used vehicles at Serramonte or any local Subaru dealership, I suggest looking up any current class action settlements for your Subaru Vehicle. That’s the only real reason you might need to go here. Often times the issue you may be experiencing may qualify for a service or parts replacement at a reduced cost. However, be advised that calling the service manager/ department at this dealership directly with any questions may not be in your best interest. The first day I contacted the service manager, he gave misleading information. A qualified dealership is only required by Subaru to perform a specific service or repair as outlined in the settlement. Read the fine print, this dealership will not do more than the bare minimum. I’ve had exceptional care at other Subaru dealerships (@ Dick Hannah, Vancouver WA) who provide a multipoint inspection of my vehicle pre and post repairs (included free of charge) They stand by their values of quality, safety and service and guarantee the work they perform. Unlike Serramonte Subaru, which is a huge disappointment. Don’t trust them with a used vehicle, they refused to acknowledge whether they performed any diagnostic or visual inspection of the ignition/ electrical system after the instillation, immediately dismissed themselves of any fault or responsibility, and told me to ignore the problem considering the car did eventually start again. I gave their technicians the benefit of the doubt, having spent three hours on a busy and wet Saturday morning waiting for a simple battery installation. When the car refused to start after driving it away, I knew they might not have the time to do much that day. When I spoke to a manager two days later, he couldn’t be bothered less. I had to ask and pry every piece of information I needed in order to make an informed decision.I asked him what the possible problem could be, how long that repair would take and the cost. I was told there is a 6 week back order, no way of knowing how long any of it would take. I asked if they have rentals to which he said nope, the loaner list is long and also 6 weeks out. He couldn’t wait to hang up. Not. One. Solution More
Had to wait 4 hours but that was because they were thorough. They noticed two rotors were flawed and repaired them. When I went to my car I was pleased to see it was washed and the interior cleaned. This dealership’s mechanic is sucks. I have my 2018 Forester service at this dealership and they rotate the tires for me without tied the front passenger side wheel nuts and let me pick up my car. When Forester service at this dealership and they rotate the tires for me without tied the front passenger side wheel nuts and let me pick up my car. When I starting to go up to freeway cab driver next to me tapping his horn and ask me to stop driving or my wheel will be gone soon. That is ridiculous. Later I returned to Serramonte dealership and asking them how can you treated my car this way. They didn’t admit that is their fault. I am getting mad and spoke louder at their service department. They provide free alignment and changed all the nut stud for me afterwards. I have all the paperwork from dealership on file. Don’t go to this dealership to service your Subaru. They are terrible. I was shopping around for cars and looked at other Subaru dealers before calling this location. The sales person at this location told me that they had the last car of the model I was interested in, in ALL o dealers before calling this location. The sales person at this location told me that they had the last car of the model I was interested in, in ALL of California. Mind you I had already spoke to 2 different dealerships who had the same model. After I explained that to the sales person he told me that I should buy my car from the other dealerships because they had a better deal. He said he wouldn’t go any lower than 10k over the MSRP. He then said thank you and hung up the call. Avoid this place at all costs. More
Terrible service. They are here to fleece the customer. We were seriously looking at buying a car and were quoted a price that was $5000 above the MSRP. The manager had the audacity to tell us that the demand was very high and supply was low. Since they had the most stock of cars in the area so they could command that kind of price in the market. He banged the table and walked away having said this. Needles to say we walked away to the next dealer and got a car with a higher trim at a price that was a few thousands lesser than the quoted price. So glad to have not done business here. Please stay away from this dealer if you can. More

DO NOT APPROACH!! My brand new BRZ infotainment head unit system failed within two days of purchase, and this guys replaced the head unit. Then they damaged interior parts, apoligized and replaced the parts. system failed within two days of purchase, and this guys replaced the head unit. Then they damaged interior parts, apoligized and replaced the parts. On the replacement process of those damaged parts they broke other parts conected to the hand break. A couple months ago my trunk dealigned and as a courtesy they fixed it, and then chipped my rear bumper!!!! They are the worst. Made me hate my BRZ, traded in for WRX and lost a maintenance package because of this. I really regret choosing Subaru. They do not care about quality of service, they just want to get the cars out ASAP. More
Very disappointed on service review today. Scheduled service appt in advance. Brought car in 1/24/20 at 7:40am, Anthony helped at counter. I reviewed service scheduled including replacement of ac conden service appt in advance. Brought car in 1/24/20 at 7:40am, Anthony helped at counter. I reviewed service scheduled including replacement of ac condenser and fan on our 2 month old car - that we waited for parts for repair. Anthony verified part and provided a 1.5-2 hr service wait time. Shortly after I set down to wait Anthony texted me that he would provide updates and I could ask if I had questions during my wait. I patiently waited until after 11:30am. I txtd Anthony twice fifteen minutes apart to no avail. At noon I cane to him at counter, he checked on car and saud 15 more minutes. It is now 12.32pm no word again so I again came to counter and Anthony walked in and said he was preparing my paperwork. Besides taking too long, the communication needs to be improved upon. More
Intermediate service price is ridiculous Paid 331.65 for 'intermediate service'. Labor was $252.54 for Subaru Impreza, 14,911 miles. My vehicle had three subaru recalls. The second time is to discuss how my car was not working properly after service. I have left them email, phone message and put on hold until I was cut off. 1 week later and no calls back. No response. Dissapointed. More
