I was surprised by the attitude and unprofessional behavior I received when I brought my VW in. Take Your Car Here - Don't Do This At Home! Last year, I had one of my friends flush my coolant because it was looking really gross. Items given were the VW coolant from parts, and several gallo Last year, I had one of my friends flush my coolant because it was looking really gross. Items given were the VW coolant from parts, and several gallons of distilled water. Fast forward 2 years and 40,000 miles, the coolant tank under the hood looked disgusting. I took my car in and asked if I could get my antifreeze flushed. Tom took care of me right away and I got fresh PINK antifreeze, not dark murky purple brown that was in the engine. Very satisfied with the result. Moral of the story, unless your friends know what they're doing to a tee or work for Volkswagen or Audi, don't let them flush your coolant - it needs to be vacuumed out and disposed of properly (very lethal to pets and against the law, you could get a ticket if you just pour it somewhere you're not supposed to). And a big warning to anyone checking your coolant levels - DO IT WHEN THE ENGINE IS ICE COLD, THE COOLANT WILL BUBBLE OUT OF THE THING AND BURN YOU. More
