Patrick, my salesman, was great. Took time to find exactly what I wanted. Matt in finance found a better rate than my pre-approved loan saving me on my payment. My mom was right. My Genesis was stolen from southern states Hyundai. My Genesis was stolen from southern states Hyundai when it was in for a warranty repair because they left the keys in it on their lot, unlocked. I was My Genesis was stolen from southern states Hyundai when it was in for a warranty repair because they left the keys in it on their lot, unlocked. I was told by them it was my responsibility and I had to “deal with it”. They claim that I instructed the service writer Chris to leave the keys in the car which is a lie and a cover up for their incompetence. I have a second key and would never ask they leave the key in the car, because the car cannot lock with the key nearby. I thought that maybe a Hyundai dealer knew something that I didn’t and had a way to lock the car up with the key in it. After all Chris told me they would make sure the car was locked. But even if I did ask them to leave the keys in the car (which I certainly did not) why not tell me that the car was unable to be locked because of the proximity key and that they would not leave it for me. They knew I had a second key and that the Genesis needed to come back to them for the unfinished repair in a few days anyway. When I arrived at the dealership and asked for my car last Monday morning the service writer Chris disappeared for about twenty minutes making me late for work. She was hiding and I had to seek her out in a back office to let her know I had to go to work and to bring the car to me when they found it. Three hours later (I’m sure they were all getting their story straight) I got a call back from the service manager asking me if I picked up the car over the weekend. I said of course not, that was why I came Monday morning for it. He then asked me if I had someone else pick it up. Of course the answer was no. This was the first example of them deflecting their responsibility of the theft to me for their negligence . He then told me the car was taken off of their lot. They saw someone lift the handle of my car which was unlocked, get in it, take the key out of the cup holder where the service writer Chris left it and drive off with my car. The thief did not break a window or pry the door open, just got in an unlocked car and drove off with the key in the cup holder. The service manager then told me the theft was my responsibility and that I had to call the police to file a report because I was the owner of the Genesis and they legally could not. This is lie and another attempt to deflect their negligence onto me. I told them I would not, they had custody of the car it was on their property and they needed to file a police report. Which they eventually did. But I thought they couldn’t? Why lie to me? This was a week ago and was told that I would get a loaner car when “one becomes available” they would contact me. I haven’t heard back. I guess that means in seven days they have not had a single car in their possession become available in that time to help me out in a bad situation that their negligence caused. Or it was just another lie? Look the car got stolen, it happens. I am not nearly as upset about that as I am about the way Southern States Hyundai has handled the situation. Their “not our problem attitude” is completely unacceptable and their lies are insulting. They even refused to give me the name of their insurance company so I can file a claim. It is not just my Genesis that was stolen and I loved that car (I bought it elsewhere) but also my time and inconvenience of being without a car, the endless calls back and forth with the police and insurance investigators, insurance claim department, Attorney's. I am also dealing with the thought that the vehicle if found, will be considered a recovered theft vehicle and will loose most of its value. If the car is not found I will have to go through the hassle of shopping and buying another car, paying the deductible on the insurance claim etc. People, please do not trust this dealership with your property. If you do and something happens it is your fault (according to them). I have heard of Southern States bad reputation in the past but it was mostly for their sales department practices. But their dishonesty and lack of customer care has also infected their service department as well. More
