I took my 2019 Subaru Outback in based on a class action lawsuit on it draining batteries. While they were quick to get it in and look at it I was told it needed a battery and $1800 worth of other items. My lawsuit on it draining batteries. He said that Subaru would take care of 80% of the cost of the battery replacement and my part would be over $100. He said it would be a larger battery and would need a new larger battery tray and the cost would be over $400! Mark explained that the part that needed to be replaced was on national back order with unknown timeframe when it would be in. He said they could pull the fuse to the defective part so it wouldn't continue to drain the battery. Explained it could impact Starlink feature. When I asked what features would be impacted by loss of Starlink (e.g. Navigation, Hands free calling, etc) he didn't know? Seems a service writer/mgr should know that. He advised the tech that my car would need to be jumped so he could pull it around. When I asked the tech if he had to jump it when he pulled it around for me, he said, 'No, started right up'. I left the dealership and drove straight to O'Reilly's and had the battery tested. It checked out fine. I have been driving it for a week now (including a long weekend trip to NC) and the battery fires up every time. I have no patience for dealerships that try to convince customers that their vehicles need a lot of expensive repairs while they have their vehicles secured.
