My salesman Philip took the time meet everyone of my needs in a timely and professional manner. I went into the sales process with three goals to meet and together with his team they met and exceeded all those goals. Everyone took the time to explain they "why" and the "how" that I needed to know to be comfortable with my purchase. Out of the 17 years I have been purchasing vehicles for me and my family, this experience was by far been the best. Everyone I encountered there was very professional, friendly and willing to help. These guys do it the right way and I will be passing the word around everywhere I go to all in why they should buy from Southern VW at Greenbrier. Just fantastic! V/r Dave Walker More
Back in 09 my husband and I purchased a used car from Daron Harris. He couldnt find the valet key and the windshield wipers barely cleaned the windshield, he said he would have a key made and they would Daron Harris. He couldnt find the valet key and the windshield wipers barely cleaned the windshield, he said he would have a key made and they would replace the windshield wipers at no charge. Well after trying to speak with Daron for days to get this taken care of I finally had to call the sales manager to get it taken care of. It was actually Jay Pichardo who got us a spare key. Then when my car went for the first inspection I recieved a call saying the tint on my windshield was illegal and too low so they took it off and re did it without our permission. We went to go pick up the car and they had totally screwed up the tint on my windshield, luckily I had pictures with me of the car when I bought it from them showing they sold me the car like that and I wanted it fixed. So the sales manager sent me to a tint shop to get it fixed and again without my permission they decided to take the tint off my back window and redo it because there isnt supposed to be tint over the brake light in the window, which would have been fine if they would have asked first. Very unhappy I decided to speak with Jeff Owens, the big man there, he apologized for everything but didnt do anything about it which made me very unhappy. It is now 2011 and our family is growing and we wanted a bigger, newer car. I love driving a manual and having a sunroof. We told them what we wanted and how much we would pay. They kept trying to raise our monthly payments and they tried to trick us into getting an automatic with a sunroof. They also did not give us the sale price that was advertised on the car for a holiday weekend. We also found out that when we bought the car in 09 they didnt give us the trade in on my 03 jetta they said they did so now we are about $700 in negative equity. We walked out. Once again there was a sale going on for military so we decided to go browse again in August. Well they werent honoring the sales again. But they really want the car we have because it is an 07 special edition with less than 50,000 miles on it. We get calls all the time trying to get us up there to trade in our car but they are trying to sell us a new car at FULL MSRP even with sales going on. They keep us there for hours and try to get us to budge on the amounts we want and the car we want, which we are not willing to do. So yet again we walked. Jeff Owens called me specifically asking me to come in to work on a deal so I went to see what he had and he told me he had to find the car I wanted and work the trade in and the numbers and he would call us the next day. It is now November and I am still waiting for the call. I recently had to go to "Southern VW" for my inspection (luckily there were no problems) and I was approached by 4 people who know me from being there before trying to get me to get a new car. I think when my husband and I are ready to we will be checking in with Checkered Flag VW before even thinking about going to Southern VW. Every experience that we have had with Southern VW has been horrible and a let down. More
I went in to find my third car from this dealership and was very disappointed! I was very happy the first two times I used "Greenbrier Volkswagen" but my experience with "Southern Volkswagen" was very diff was very disappointed! I was very happy the first two times I used "Greenbrier Volkswagen" but my experience with "Southern Volkswagen" was very different. I felt like they were trying to rip me off the entire time we were negotiating. After the way I had been treated, I went straight to Checkered Flag Hyundai/Volkswagen. Checkered Flag was no pressure, genuine people with honest answers, and an overall great experience! Don't waste your time with Southern....go straight to Checkered Flag! More

I recently took my 2007 VW Passat 2.0t in for unscheduled maintenance; a loud noise under the hood when accelerating and cruising and unusual rumble at idle. I called at 9 in the morning and scheduled a drop maintenance; a loud noise under the hood when accelerating and cruising and unusual rumble at idle. I called at 9 in the morning and scheduled a dropoff for 3 pm. I showed up at 1 pm, 2 hours early. I was seen promptly by my service advisor and all paperwork/administrative issues were cleared in 5 minutes. I was told I would recieve a call by the next morning to let me know the status of my vehicle and what repairs would be necessary. In this time, the Enterprise representative arrived and was waiting for me BEFORE I was done at the desk. I was promptly taken across the street and placed in a rental and on my way...the entire evolution took less than 30 minutes. I got the morning phone call I was promised and another around 12:30-1:00 pm telling me my vehicle was repaired. I was informed that although I have exceeded mileage for my warranty period, the specific defect is covered under a VW extended warranty for a known problem with my model vehicle. If the dealership was not honest and I did not know how to do research, they could have easily charged me a handsome sum for this repair. As it stands, the entire repair was performed for free and I only paid for a rental vehicle for one day. I would have had the rental for free also but kept the car for over 24 hours...I was covered for 1 day free rental but did not know. On top of the dealership being honest about the repair, they performed my 60K maintenance also while the vehicle was there. I cannot speak for others but I went in with realistic expectations of a Service Department and understanding my responsibilties and rights as a consumer. I had (and have had) continual pleasant experiences with Greenbrier Volkswagen in Chesapeake, Va. Kudos for your sincerity and dedication. More
We came in looking at a specific used vehicle. When we found out it wasn't what we were looking for, the saleman pushed us towards a few similar used vehicles. We were willing to look inside with an open found out it wasn't what we were looking for, the saleman pushed us towards a few similar used vehicles. We were willing to look inside with an open mind, however none matched our needs. All of the vehicles that have leather interiors have been coated in a greasy film that looks and feels gross, turning us off of all of these vehicles. We decided to call it a day and head out when the sales manager came over and began pushing the vehicles we'd just looked in once more. We explained why we weren't interested in each vehicle and he wouldn't take "no" for an answer and kept explaining away each problem we had. I understand they're trying to sell a vehicle and convince you that you "need" that particular car, but when a customer has stated several times that they are not interested, it's time to move on and not continue pushing. It is such a shame-the product-Volkswagen is stellar-but service is inconsistant-some times it is friendly & efficent; but most of time-they leave you feeling ripped off, conned-with a insincere smile! T service is inconsistant-some times it is friendly & efficent; but most of time-they leave you feeling ripped off, conned-with a insincere smile! The ONLY reason I come back for service at Greenbrier-is because I have an extended warranty---NEVER BUY A CAR FROM THIS DEALERSHIP WITHOUT ONE! They are stuck with me-I plan on getting my $$ worth-and yes- I will continue to rag them when they give me poor customer service. I am going to demand it! ANYONE who does not feel like they were treated well at this dealership needs to share their experience with Volkswagen of America!!!!! More
I went to the VW dealership again they soaked me for over $1900 this time. I had a letter in my hand from the manufacture that the catalytic converter was bad and still under warranty. Do you think they $1900 this time. I had a letter in my hand from the manufacture that the catalytic converter was bad and still under warranty. Do you think they replaced? No way, and they have no intention to ever. Every time I bring the car in with the engine light on “not-surprisingly” it is a different component each time, one that is costly and labor intensive. I have replaced three components now, and still they will not replace the known defective part the catalytic converter. I also talked to many more disappointed customers in the service department waiting room again. Feel free to call me I want to write a letter to the VW Manufacturer and see if I can make a case for what is being done to customers whom bring their car to Greenbrier Volkswagen. I have yet to meet one happy customer in the service department waiting room. Art Moore (757) 339-9080 More
I purchased 2001 VW Golf from Greenbrier Volkswagen. It has been running terrible for over a year. It has had the computer scans by Auto Zone, Advance Auto, and another certified mechanic "for free each ti has been running terrible for over a year. It has had the computer scans by Auto Zone, Advance Auto, and another certified mechanic "for free each time." The code comes up as faulty Catalytic Converter. However, upon taking it to the dealership they wanted to charge $95.00 for the scan and if the code came up as anything else, then I would have to pay for those parts repair also, befor they would even concider looking at the converter. Then, of course, the code at the dealership came up as possible forward oxygen sensor faulty, which they never let the customer actually see the code or codes that come on any machine. However, I got the car back and replaced the forward oxygen sensor. The engine light is still on, after I cleared the codes then drove it the light came back on, the car still runs terrible. Now the dealership would like over $120 to scan the codes again, which is free, in 3 other locations. Here's the rub, I have a letter from the VW Manufacture that says the car is recalled for the Catalytic Converter and they will be replaced it free of charge under 80,000 miles. The car has barely 70,000 miles. The dealership's southern hospitality package is a bait and switch tactic. They want you to bring in the car for regular maintenance so they can gouge you on any other repairs they deem necessary. More
