Uncomfortable experience, disrespect and lack of care/time This was the most upsetting experience I’ve had at a car dealership, and I won’t be returning because of this unfortunate encounter. I came in looking for a new car to buy and the attitude that I was given was demeaning and disrespectful. Although Rob was very knowledgeable about the cars he was showing me, the lack of care was very apparent, and it was clear that I was not the priority of his day. Rob stated midway through looking at options for cars that he “was supposed to be home with his wife and daughter” and if we could “wrap up looking at cars.” Understanding, I told him that I could wait for another person to help us and not to worry about it, but he insisted not to hand us off to anyone else because everyone else that works at the dealership “gets paid on commission and won’t willingly help us.” Essentially pushing us out the door and refusing to leave us in the hands of anyone else and hours left to spare that the dealership was open, Rob created an uncomfortable space that did not make me feel welcome. Rather than treating me like an adult- an equal- he treated me as if I was a child that did not understand cars or perhaps someone that didn’t deserve his respect. I requested a run down of prices for some of the cars that I was interested in, and he refused to give me a copy for myself because it would “compromise his job” as he repeatedly said I wouldn’t find a better deal elsewhere- which essentially wasn’t the case; I had simply wanted a price run down for my personal reference- since he stated he wouldn’t have the time to sell me a car that day. I wasn’t sure if this was a “car dealership policy” so I had asked of the same information at the Mazda dealership I went to down the street right after and they gave me that information for my personal reference without hesitation- and I ended up buying the car. Although I may have been a customer younger than what he could be used to, he should treat and respect every person with the same care, because you never know who you are making a sale to. After leaving, I went up the street to a Mazda dealership and was able to set my eyes on a car, purchase it, and establish an amazing interaction with the person that sold it to me. It shouldn’t be difficult to treat people with respect, and Volkswagen lost a sale because of this mans lack of respect. More
