We appreciate you reaching out and sorry for any misunderstanding. I can confirm that Ford did include either an 84 month or a 100 month warranty on batteries prior to 2021. The first 36 months would include free replacement, then the remaining warranty up to the 100 months would be prorated (Ford pays a portion and the Customer pays a portion). Bought 2016 Ford Escape at Sunset June/July 2016 and the battery went bad in January 2019. Haven’t gotten three years yet and has to pay $149 something to replace the battery with 100 month warranty. Battery went bad and replaced for 2nd time in 5 1/2 years. Patricia

Ok Patricia, thank you for that information. I was able to find your repair order and I can see that we tested the battery on this most recent visit and found it to only be producing 73 CCAs (Cold Cranking Amps) and the battery is rated at 590 CCAs. So it was definitely in a failed state and needed to be replaced. Regarding the warranty on the Battery, the Battery you purchased on 1/21/2019 was a Ford Motorcraft BXT590 Battery, which includes 36 month free replacement, and a 100 month Limited Warranty (prorated pricing months 37-100). The free replacement expired on 1/21/2022, but you still have the Limited Warranty to reduce the total cost of replacement. I see you paid $67.01 this visit, which according to Ford's prorated warranty amounts is correct. Here is a link to the BXT battery warranty and benefits page confirming my statements above. https://parts.ford.com/content/dam/ford-parts/resources/motorcraftpdf/TESTED_TOUGH_MAX_Batteries.pdf The warranty would have also been printed on the label on the battery, which this website displays that example. https://parts.ford.com/shop/en/us/battery-and-related-components/battery-7839815-1 From what I see, my staff correctly processed your payment and Ford upheld their limited warranty, and you were left to pay a fraction (prorated amount) on the new battery. New vehicles include a 3 year / 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. On 1/21/2019 when your battery was replaced and you paid $149, the vehicle had 39,783 miles on it and was outside the new vehicle bumper to bumper warranty. So that is why at that time it was customer responsibility to pay for the battery. Then that new battery also included a 3 year warranty, which as explained in previous replies we know expired as well, but fortunately had prorated coverage. Justin.
