Everything was perfect! Jaison Gonzalez helped me with the test drive and talking numbers. I spoke to a manager that also gave me good insight on the deal. Not a good experience! I was at the dealership for a total of 6 1/2 hrs. I made a 2 hr drive one way to buy a vehicle I saw online. They have my contact information, they s I was at the dealership for a total of 6 1/2 hrs. I made a 2 hr drive one way to buy a vehicle I saw online. They have my contact information, they should have contacted me before I made the trip to tell me they were not able to sell me the vehicle I was interested in. After arriving there & waiting around 1/2 hr I was informed that they were not going to sell me the vehicle I wanted. They said there was too much wrong with it & they were going to send it to an auction. Then the pressure started! Showing me a 2019 Frontier over $ 25000 when I was only looking to spend $ 6000. It did make a little sense to go newer at the same payment I was making, but that $ 240 payment ended up at $ 436 per month. Now let's move on with the delays. After agreeing to buy it, they decided it must be gassed & washed. Why wasn't that done before it was shown to me? Now the paperwork! So many buyers there & it seemed like only 1 person doing paperwork! Finally, ready to go! Oh wait, we must do a safety check! They take the truck into the service area. Again, why wasn't this done before it was put up for sale? Safety check is done! It's closing time, but I'm so lucky because it needs a wheel bearing & a mechanic agreed to stay & replace the wheel bearing! I am told by Jimmy that he is going home & that the mechanic will pull the truck to the front of the store & come to the waiting room to let me know it is done. I look in the shop on occasion & see the truck on the lift. I see the truck, I see the truck, I see the truck. 6 pm, I don't see the truck, it must be done so I walk to the front of the store. No truck in site, I look back into the shop, no truck! Look out front, no truck! The few people that are in the building are ignoring me. You would think a supervisor would ask what I'm doing here! 6:30 pm, someone walks in the front door & asks me if I am waiting on a truck that was being repaired. "Yes, I am". "Here are your keys"! "Thank you, where is the truck"? "xxxx if I know". He found the truck parked in the lot, I guess with the finished repairs! Oh goody, another half an hr wasted! Now for the 2 hr ride home! WAIT! What is that noise I'm hearing? It's the noise that's made when you drive with a worn wheel bearing & it wears the tire uneven OR is it that the wheel bearing was never replaced!! I'm going to find out the 1st chance I get! If it is a bad tire, Sutherlin should replace the tire also. What if the bearing was never replaced!!! FOLLOWUP: A wheel bearing check was performed by another service center and I am told there is no slack in the wheel travel. All 4 tires were replaced because of being worn unevenly and low tread. 2 lug nuts were replaced on the rear wheels because of the threads being stripped. Never again! More
I am writing to formally document my dissatisfaction with a recent service visit. The service department performed diagnostics before checking the battery's condition as I requested, provided a fundamentally a recent service visit. The service department performed diagnostics before checking the battery's condition as I requested, provided a fundamentally incorrect repair quote exceeding $12,000, and failed to verify vehicle functionality after completing the requested battery replacement. Incident Details Unauthorized Diagnostic: My wife dropped off the vehicle specifically to have the battery checked/replaced, alongside a routine oil change and tire rotation. Despite these clear instructions, the service attendant initiated an electrical-system diagnosis to troubleshoot the retractable roof without prior authorization. Erroneous Diagnosis & High-Pressure Quote: Based on this unauthorized check, I was informed of a "fault" in the retractable roof system. I was presented with two unacceptable options: Full replacement of the roof system for $12,000+. Or, A "repair" consisting of permanently disconnecting the roof, rendering it non-functional. Inaccurate Technical Advice: When I declined these repairs and insisted on only the original services (oil, tires, and battery), the advisor, Guy, told me that because I refused the roof repair, the roof would not function, and the trunk would not open. Resolution via Requested Service: Upon picking up the vehicle after the battery replacement, the "fault" had disappeared, and the trunk opened without issue. Furthermore, upon returning home, I tested the retractable roof; it is fully functional. Conclusion It is evident that the electrical "faults" were a direct symptom of a failing battery—a point I explicitly communicated to Guy at the start. The service department failed to: Perform the basic due diligence of checking system functionality after the battery was installed. Respect the customer’s specific service requests. Provide an accurate diagnosis, which nearly resulted in a $12,000 unnecessary expense. I am requesting a full refund for the unauthorized and erroneous electrical system diagnosis fee. I look forward to your prompt response regarding this matter. More
