E-mailed other dealers and got a fast response. Called back and talked with Tyse who agreed to the price I was asking over the phone promising no tricks or gimmicks. Because I live 30 miles away from Evanston I didn't really want to drive that far but he guaranteed that if I come the same day he will have the car for me all ready and at the price. Being very sceptical especially after my experience in Countryside I got in the car and drove at 5pm from South side of Chicago. I was even more apprehensive since other dealers quotes were off by minimum of $700 and I was told by Pugi dealer that if Evanston is willing to sell me that car at the price I was asking I should go. Driving over an hour to Evanston I finally arrived with my wife. Was met by Tyse as well as greeted by the general manager. Immediately I was taken to their garage where they showed me the car I intended to purchase. Brand new 2012 Mazda 5 Grand touring in red with sand interior. Tyse asked if I wanted to test drive it but I declined since I already drove one in Countryside. After a few minutes I was led to the finance department where we were made to wait for about 30 minutes since it seemed 3 of their finance people were handling documents. During the wait I got some coffee (they have great choices in snacks as well) as well as played XBox kinect boxing on their large screen. After 30 minutes or so we were called in and here is the final experience. The price I was quoted was EXACTLY what was on the paper. No gimmicks and no pressure or tricks of any kind. I researched the lowest prices one can buy the vehicle for beforehand and I paid $130 over what Consumer reports listed as the Best buying price (the closest one dealer came was by &700 dollars more). The finance person (sorry forgot his name--Russian) was extremely friendly and although he did attempt to sell me an extended warranty when I declined he put no pressure at all and continued with the contract. The whole buying process took no more than 20-25 minutes and when I walked out of the finance department my new car was waiting for me with a full tank of gas. Tyse along with another sales person explained all the features of the car again as plates were being installed. Finally after 10 minutes or so I got the keys and zoomed zoomed away. Overall I am beyond impressed about the sales department at Evanston and would return at an instance to buy another Mazda from them. It was not the only dealer who offered the lowest price (and trust me I got a great price since I researched using various sources as well as consumer reports price car report) but what I am even more impressed with is that there were no gimmicks, no bait and switches and all the other tools of trade dealers usually work on you with. The price was exactly what was discussed on the phone. The payments were exactly as I had calculated myself. Totally great experience. I regret that I wasn't treated this way at Autobarn at Countryside since I was a returning customer. As I was finalizing my contract I got a message from my mother who informed me that the Countryside dealer called willing to talk prices again. After wasting my time for 4 hours the 2 day before I will return their call tomorrow letting them know I love my new car, the price I paid for it and the treatment I received. More
I'd taken my VW to the Autobarn VW in Mt. Prospect, so I knew what I was getting into - a professional, no nonsense dealership that takes their customers seriously. My wife and I were looking for a 2010 Mazda5 with manual trans, but apparently those are as rare as hens teeth and one couldn't be located, so she stopped by Autobarn Mazda to look at a 2012 with manual tra trans, but apparently those are as rare as hens teeth and one couldn't be located, so she stopped by Autobarn Mazda to look at a 2012 with manual trans. They let her take it home for a couple of days and she really liked it. We stopped by on Saturday 4/16 to talk about purchasing and we drove home with it. Andre was our salesperson, but being that this was a Saturday and he was very busy with multiple customers, we also got assistance from Jon, another salesperson. Negotiations were relatively painless and they were very accomidating to our needs (we dragged our 6 month old along and he was in "cranky mode"). Overall, a great experience! More

I called to check on a vehicle that I saw online. My husband and I was interested in purchasing a new vehicle. We called the dealership and Andre Jennings answered my call. He confirmed that the vehicl husband and I was interested in purchasing a new vehicle. We called the dealership and Andre Jennings answered my call. He confirmed that the vehicle was in stock. We test drove the vehicle however I was looking for more amenities so Andre pointed out the 2011 Mazda CX9 which I instantly fell in love with. I had a set budget on the purchase so Andre and Mike work diligently to meet my budget. We closed the dealership down finalizing the deal but it was truly worth it. Andre, Mike and Tony (finance) were informative, professional and friendly. They made out visit worthwhile. Thank you. More
Working with the salesman, Jon Kaufman, was a very good experience. He was polite, friendly, professional, knowledgeable, reliable once the deal was made, and did not use pressure tactics. Once we discuss experience. He was polite, friendly, professional, knowledgeable, reliable once the deal was made, and did not use pressure tactics. Once we discussed our price difference, however, he needed to "defer" the negotiations to his assistant manager who was polite but provided some pressure tactics. It was somewhat a "good cop - bad cop" act all in an effort to get their price. The final price was a "compromise" but I am sure the dealer made a good profit. The car was a used 2011 so I had minimal used car price information. More
Went into the autobarn looking for a specific vechicle, with the help of Eric drew, he made sure I left with the vechicle that I wanted. He was so nice and he really listened to me when I expressed what I with the help of Eric drew, he made sure I left with the vechicle that I wanted. He was so nice and he really listened to me when I expressed what I needed in a vechicle, instead of just rushing me to buy the car. He took his time and he explained things to me. He was very patient and understanding, which made my first cr buying experience pleasant. I'd recommend the autobarn mazda of evanston to everyone. There are some nice people there waiting to help you get into your new car/truck/van, but Eric Drew is my favorite. ask for him. More
I had a very good experience with Dave at Autobarn. We purchased an '09 Mazda6 after negotiating with two other dealers, and Dave handled us very well throughout the experience. He was low pressure, and purchased an '09 Mazda6 after negotiating with two other dealers, and Dave handled us very well throughout the experience. He was low pressure, and allowed us to do our due diligence without heavy handed sales tactics. I would classify him as the type of salesperson most of us want to deal with - professional, business-like and respectful. Believe he also buys most of their inventory, so has the best knowledge of the cars on the lot. The entire process took 2.5 days - we were looking at two other cars at the same time, and after we negotiated the final price, we had the car checked out by a separate mechanic. This seemed fine by Dave. Throughout all, very respectful and timely. We also got a very good rate through the dealership (not a huge fan of the finance person btw. Read the papers you're signing, and the tactic of offering an $1895 bumper to bumper warranty after the final price is confirmed w/o room for negotiation didn't make me smile), but it would have been strange not to have something not feel like a regular dealership. I will have to think more about getting a used car certified in the future because it's only a powertrain warranty, and have not researched how often fixes would be bumper to bumper versus a powertrain. Finance person indicated 90% were b2b; new information for me. The question is really whether you can buy the used car without dealer certification because they seem to roll it into the price. After the papers were signed, Dave drove the car to Chicago for us. Small thing, but it counted, especially after the papers were signed and there was in many dealerships eyes, no need to do this. Recommend the Autobarn even after had read other Yelp reviews with less than positive things to say. It depends on the salesperson, your knowledge of the car you want and your negotiation position. Dave was extremely helpful in getting us the car we wanted, knowledgeable about the inventory and quick to get down to the real work of price. Thank you Dave! More
We just purchased a 2010 Lexus IS350 and could not be more pleased with this dealership. Our salesman, Thijs de Kool, was extremely helpful, courteous and knowledgable. We drove over 300 miles roundtrip to buy this car and we are so hppy that we did. We were treated very fairly on our trade and our new car was detailed to perfection. We financed through them even though we already had prearranged financing through our credit union because the rate was so incredibly low. I would HIGHLY recommend this dealership and Thijs! More
