W spoke with Bill Patterson on the phone after finding the van we wanted online. He was very helpful in arranging for our visit and subsequent purchase. Had an issue with my steering column in my 2010 Avalon. It was making a "clicking" noise at low speeds. The fix based on the initial diagnosis was quite expensive. I was told a much less expensive fix, not yet authorized by Toyota, may be available. It was recommended I wait for the authorization since the problem was not immediately dangerous. I wrote the Toyota service mgr and cc'd my service advisor asking that they escalate the issue within Toyota because it seemed to me that a steering column issue is potentially VERY serious. Evidently they did just as I requested and provided the expensive fix at no charge to me as a "goodwill service". The bottom line is: they did the right thing by escalating an issue within Toyota and gaining approvals to fix the problem before it became a headline in the news resulting in injury and recalls. More
