When I decided to take advantage of the diesel buyback program, it made sense to begin shopping for a new car there. Today, of course, prospective buyers can position themselves reasonably well by accessing the many internet buying sites to obtain local prices for just about any car make and model, as long as one is willing to put up with the flood of email responses from competing dealers. After evaluating a variety of possibilites from other manufacturers, I decided to focus on a gasoline version of the Golf (a GTI), even though VW, the company, had not been an honest broker to millions of diesel owners worldwide. Suffice it to say, however, the VW Golf gasoline version is an excellent automobile for the price, its emissions satisfy EPA regulations and the diesel buyback program was reasonable. In light of this, the Wellesley folks, Ray Hovsepian, Marc Shoenhammer and Mike Ahern worked with me to obtain the GTI of my choice at a very competitive price. In the end they were able to offer me an extremely competitive lease which better suited my needs. In summary, their knowledge of the car and market combined with their low pressure, straight-talk and good nature, fairness and senses of humor made it a pleasure to do business with Wellesley VW. He was patient, took the time to respond to my questions and concerns to my satisfaction, knew the vehicle well and could contrast it to my previous Jetta, and was flexible about accommodating my requests. I appreciated that the time he spent on the test drive and the route he laid out was varied and gave me a range of driving conditions to evaluate the car against. Overall a very positive experience. Due to some scheduling challengers on our end, we also dealt with Andreas Becker, who was similar in his great customer service. The manager came out to see us on our first visit, and the finance person was efficient and explained things well. You'd think we'd be upset with Volkswagen, since we had two diesels under the diesel emissions bit, but Wellesley Volkswagen gave us a great deal and has been a pleasure to deal with the whole way through.
