Used car - take to YOUR Mechanic before buying Kelsey was very patient and helped me make sure the car I was looking at would be right for me. Great customer service and low pressure sales. Her ma Kelsey was very patient and helped me make sure the car I was looking at would be right for me. Great customer service and low pressure sales. Her manager was the same, but was less than honest when it came to discussing one of the major mechanical features that I was worried about (brakes). I test drove the car before buying it and noticed the brakes were a little soft. I was told before buying it that the brakes in the back were a little worn and would likely have to be replaced in a few months. Ok, no problem. So I bought the car and took it to a shop for the echeck a couple days later. I asked them to take a look at the brakes while they were at it. The called me back after a few minutes and showed me the brakes were worn and stuck into the calipers. They would have to replace the calipers to replace the brakes. Worse, they had worn grooves into the rotors, so I had to replace those too. Even worse than that, around the shaft-thingy that conected to the steering, there were cracks and it was spitting/leaking grease/oil. I'm not a mechanic, but it was pretty obvious that it needed to be replaced. I could tell there was some play in the steering when I drove (which I didn't mention to the mechanic at first), so it was pretty obvious that this was the culprit. Lastly, one of the "arm" thingies that supported the wheel was cracked and needed to be replaced. It had made a creaking sound when going over the curb at the end of my driveway, another thing I didn't mention to my mechanic at first, but obviously was an issue that needed to be addressed. Anyway, none of these things were presented to me when I bought the vehicle. I was told that the brakes were just "soft" because of the age of the car. Lies. Maybe that's what the mechanic told the sales rep to get out of doing some work, but after all the repairs, I had to pay a little over 1k. Everything else on the car runs great. Interior is spotless and the engine seems to be in good shape according to my mechanic. Just disconcerning that they lied to me about the one thing I was a little worried about. The finance department was great at getting me a low rate for financing. More
