(NOTE: Dealership based 90% on our sales rep) We had a marvelous (and successful!) experience buying a pre-owned Civic at White Plains Honda — 101% satisfied and thrilled with our new car! But the headline is really our Sales Consultant, Miguel Almonte: he is such a gentleman and professional, with impeccable people skills and intelligent, positive energy that would make him a star no matter where he chose to employ his talents! We went from a cautious handshakes at lunch to hugging the guy as we drove off the lot well past dinner time (and you’d have no pulse if you did NOT do the same!) We were originally just visiting area Honda dealerships to “get a feel” for the cars and the car-buying ambiance. White Plains Honda was our second stop. We felt comfortable that nobody came out and accosted us with charm, or glad-handed us immediately — we got a definite vibe of approptiate space and freedom to comfortably browse. While we examined cars on the lot, we noticed a 2017 Civic with no signage. We were interested and went inside. We feel incredibly fortunate that Miguel was free. We both felt an intuitive sigh of relief as he introduced himself, the dealership, and gave us full, careful, and comprehensive attention. We discussed the Civic and he provided us with details, options, etc. He took us for a test drive and, just to allay our concerns about the vehicle differences, he informed us of the Honda “lay of the land.” We loved the Civic but, being new to the Honda family, were still a little overwhelmed. He had us test drive another possible choice so that we were comfortable with our decisions moving forward. That helped us decide that the Civic we loved (and bought!) was our new baby!! I could write a novella on the absolute dedication Miguel had for our EVERY question, concern, or hesitancy. He was NEVER a “used car salesman” — he was a first-rate representative for his company who clearly was also just an outstanding fellow human being. It would be impossible for him to hide his sales éclat, and I’d be shocked if his name wasn’t on the top of every successful sales list. He was respectful to our needs/personalities; respected our budged without a hint of awkward upselling; provided pertinent and pragmatic information with every insightful solution; gave us value without asking — i.e., volunteered a very fair trade-in value for our tired old clunker; was textbook professional but his pride and winsome character was impossible to hide; managed to shoulder almost every bureaucratic & legal thing necessary — which allowed us to drive off the lot with our only task being to mail back the old plates to the DMV. One eidetic example keeps coming to mind. As I said, we are very cautious and deliberative consumers. We bought an extended warrantee, even though I have often read of problems if said warrantee is ever needed. I made a cynical joke that even though it does alleviate the worry, I hoped that the warrantee covered a lawyer if there were problems. Miguel smiled and without a hint of irony or smarminess said, “I’m your lawyer. I’m your representative for anything White Plains Honda.” I admired his wit but more so was relieved of any further doubt: we have a guy who really does care about us! I cannot stress enough (or, some might say, too much for just a review!) that our experience was seamless, professional, friendly, and exhilaratingly easy — with not a hint of anything but complete confidence that we were so lucky to have found Miguel. Actually, I suppose that encompasses the dealership itself, too; that Miguel is on their team vouchsafes to us that the dealership itself must be good; the manager who dotted the i’s and crossed the t’s was a solid professional; everything was so transparent, clear, and as smooth as our Civic’s CVT — we believe it must be a solid dealership. In a few years we look forward to having “our guy” at White Plains Honda help us with our trade-in! More

Typical, shameless, used car salesman tactics. I saw a car there yesterday. It looked good, so I asked about the price. I was told it was $18,500, but maybe, if he talks to the manager, the lowest I saw a car there yesterday. It looked good, so I asked about the price. I was told it was $18,500, but maybe, if he talks to the manager, the lowest he would be able to go is $18,000. I asked for the car fax which he did not give me, but told me I could see it on the website. I said ok, I will do that and I will come back tomorrow. So I looked at the website and it turns out that the car was listed for $17,200, and the car fax report showed it had been in an accident. It was a minor accident, and I liked the car, so I let him know the next day that I am going to be there at 3pm to work out a deal. I ran late due to work and traffic, and I arrived there closer to 4pm. While I was on my way at around 3:30pm, he texted me to confirm I was still going to make it, to which I replied yes, sorry I am running a bit late. Just as I was going to turn the corner into the dealership he texted me to say I’m sorry but the car is being sold as we speak. He told me it was not his fault and said it was first come first serve, to which I replied, but I was here yesterday. He told me they do not hold cars for anyone and then blamed his coworker for showing the car. I don’t even know if his story is even true because I don’t understand how someone can look at, test drive, and buy a car so quickly while I’m on my way there. Maybe he was being dishonest as he was about the price and not showing me the car fax. Unbelievable. Ruined my day. More
