Car Registration Nightmare Recently purchased a new Toyota from this dealership. At the time of purchase I told them this car would be titled in Florida. I did not have a proble Recently purchased a new Toyota from this dealership. At the time of purchase I told them this car would be titled in Florida. I did not have a problem with the young salesmen when I told him this but learned later he knew nothing about this process. At the time of closing with the finance person Aaron Redding he insisted that he needed to collect the Wisconsin sales tax even though I wouldn’t be registering in in the state. He said It would be returned to me immediately with a check. This didn’t make sense to me and I told him so but he said it was a state law. Other little non truths from him but I wasn’t smart enough to just cancel and walk out. Upon arriving in Florida and attempting to register the car I was told they couldn’t do it without a “Manufactures Point of Origin” certificate. I didn’t have it. Called salesmen at dealership he knew nothing about the certificate but would check. Returned call and told me Aaron said he gave it to me. He didn’t. Salesmen said he would attempt to get a new copy. About three weeks later I received a duplicate copy. At the same time I received a notification from Wisconsin with a copy of a Wisconsin title notification. For this I was charged $79. I called the Wisconsin DOT and during discussions with them found out they had received the “Manufactures Point of Origin” certicate. I now took the new paper work to register the car in Florida and was told they do not accept duplicates. And because the car was partially financed they would require the original title be sent to them. I am now it the process of trying to straighten out the title which I am told could take 4 to 5 weeks. I have bought 4 cars in Wisconsin and titled them in Florida and never had a problem except with this dealer. The people that caused this problem have not returned any of my phone calls. Right now if this eventually works it’s way to a resolution I will be out the additional $79 for the Wisconsin loop and many trips to the Florida registration office. Needless to say I will never go near this dealership again. More
