It is very confusing to purchase a car from one dealer and then be taken to a different dealer to do paperwork. Also, there are some things that were most likely optional, but were not presented as optio and then be taken to a different dealer to do paperwork. Took an extraordinarily long time and not much communication from salesman and business manager as they were working to get approval on car loan. We were also told that a vehicle advertised that w communication from salesman and business manager as they were working to get approval on car loan. We were also told that a vehicle advertised that we drove an hour and a half to see “wasn’t available yet” as it hadn’t fully gone thru the shop yet. Partially our fault for not calling first but why advertise it if not available? More

Salesman didn't know the product very well. I tested one Civic that had a sever ding on one side (that would have developed into rust). The last car I tested - and purchased - he told me there were no blind Civic that had a sever ding on one side (that would have developed into rust). The last car I tested - and purchased - he told me there were no blind spots on these newer cars. I didn't believe him - especially after testing it on a four-lane. I did buy the car but put spot mirrors on it immediately. During closing salesman had to get another copy of insurance card because he had left it at home. Honda of Ames is always unwilling to negotiate (bought a CRV and a Civic there). Seems common among Honda & Toyota dealers. My car prices was rated as "Fair". Yes - I could have walked out but they knew I needed a car and they had the model & trim that I wanted. Finally, I was paying CASH for the car. When ready to sign the papers I was asked for my income, housing info. & job situation. I finally asked why? They said "This shows as a lease-buy-out." I said "Uh...No it is not!" They should have had the paperwork ready (accurately) when I showed up. It took nearly 3-4 hours to finalize it all. Way too slow! The only positive experience besides the salesman's friendly personality was that I was given a shuttle ride back to Ankeny. Driver was very friendly. More

Friendly salesmen, smooth transaction.
