Hi Michael, I just spoke with my service director to get more information on your visit. He informed me that the reason you need to come back after 500 miles is because we couldn't find an oil leak while the truck was here. We put dye in the oil so that if a leak is present, we would be able to see it better. Which is why we need you to come back after 500 miles. As for the oil pan. It's actually the splash shield that is zip tied up. We mentioned this because whomever you've been having change your oil or service your vehicle broke the screws that hold this up. Being an honest dealer we wanted you to know this. We also mentioned this to you because we didn't want to be blamed for something that was done at a different shop. All our vehicles go through a rigorous safety check before being sold. We do not sell vehicles with zip tied anything. If you want the splash shield repaired we would be more than happy to repair it for you when you come back to inspect the oil leak. While Toyota has an extended warranty on certain oil leaks up to 60k, I was told ours won’t be honored under any courtesy coverage. Leak wasn’t discovered until first oil change service. Also, the vehicle was apparently sold with oil pan zip tied on due to broken bolts Charged $176 to travel over an hour to be told to come back after 500 miles to diagnose an issue that I feel they should stand behind

Since this is the first oil change since I purchased the vehicle I have to assume that is how I received it. The service center I’ve used for many years assures me the pan was zip tied on when the truck came in, so I guess it’s a matter of he said she said, and I have to place my trust with the people who in my experience have consistently been trustworthy and dependable.

Justine, I apologize about any miscommunication. We've made 2 attempts to get in contact with you. Unfortunately the state of Massachusetts controls all regulations of the inspection stickers. We have zero control over the process. Machines goes down, go offline, takes longer and etc. The state runs the sticker process first come first serve.
