I had to have a recall, warranty motor installed in my 2016 Kia Soul. The actual process of having that done was somewhat time consuming (how long they had my car) but since I have another vehicle, it wa 2016 Kia Soul. The actual process of having that done was somewhat time consuming (how long they had my car) but since I have another vehicle, it wasn't that big of a deal to me. However, when I got the car back, and began to drive it gently to break in the motor properly, the first time I took the car out on the highway and actually got it warmed up, I smelled burning oil. Got it home, let the motor cool, and checked the oil. Whatever tech replaced the motor overfilled the oil. A LOT. It was over an inch above the highest level mark on the dipstick. So, basically, when the engine heated up, having too much oil in it, it over pressurized the engine, forcing oil out through the seals (gaskets.) From there it poured out over the exhaust manifolds, hence the smell of burned oil. Family Kia did have the car immediately towed back to the dealership. I haven't heard anything from them yet (24 hours later) and I'm bracing myself for the news that my brand new, 250 miles old motor has to be replaced again. Very disappointing. This should have been the most elementary check they could have done on the car on it's way out the door. More
