Mr. Schwartz, I apologize if there was any miscommunication on our part. Our goal is to be fair and transparent with each and every customer that we see. Your vehicle was towed in and you authorized a $115 charge to diagnose the problem with the vehicle not starting. As far as charging to plug in for a code, a vehicle must have power in order for any shop to pull diagnostic codes. Further, a diagnostic code was not used to correct your issue. Our technician found that your positive battery terminal was failed and caused your vehicle's issue. After you authorized the additional $9.97 in parts and $57.50 in labor, the technician completed the repairs and verified that there were no other issues with the starting or charging systems. Unfortunately, at 160,000 miles warranty coverage was not an option, therefore you were charged for the diagnosis and repair.
