Luke is a good dude. Hooked my dad up with a pre-owned 2020 Toyota Tundra that had just traded in earlier that day. My experience with Capital Toyota was not just disappointing — it exposed a level of behavior that no customer should ever encounter at a dealership claiming to be reputable. I placed a deposit disappointing — it exposed a level of behavior that no customer should ever encounter at a dealership claiming to be reputable. I placed a deposit on an incoming vehicle after being told - with pressure that bordered on manipulative - that if I didn’t put money down immediately, the vehicle would be gone. I trusted them. That was my mistake. A week before the vehicle arrived, I unexpectedly lost my job. I immediately contacted the dealership, explained the situation, and asked for my deposit back. What happened next told me everything I needed to know about Capital Toyota’s ethics. The urgency they demanded from me when collecting the deposit vanished the second I needed it returned. Instead, I spent 10 days being shuffled between people, given excuses, contradictions, and dead ends. It should not take ten days and repeated calls to get your own money back. The message was clear: once they have your cash, getting it back requires a fight. After finally receiving the refund and getting my finances in order, I reached out to let them know I might still be able to proceed with the purchase. And that’s when the dealership showed its true colors. I was handed off to someone named Chandler (a manager), who delivered one of the most unprofessional conversations I’ve ever had with any business. He claimed that my refund had somehow damaged Capital Toyota’s corporate purchasing power — an excuse so absurd it would be laughable if it weren’t used to justify what came next. He told me that if I wanted to buy from them now, I would be forced to finance through their dealership. Not offered — forced. Then he attempted to punish me financially: • $4,000 less for my trade-in than another dealership • Extra finance charges piled on for no legitimate reason • An attempt to pressure me into an immediate decision It wasn’t sales. It wasn’t policy. It was retaliation. At that point, it became crystal clear: Capital Toyota does not value customers — they only value control. And if life circumstances change, they believe you should pay for the inconvenience. I walked away permanently. I went to Cleveland Toyota, where I bought the same vehicle, in the color I wanted, with the factory-installed packages Capital Toyota insisted “weren’t available.” Cleveland Toyota accomplished, in one visit, what Capital Toyota claimed was impossible. Here’s the truth: A dealership that treats a customer’s misfortune as an opportunity to squeeze, punish, and intimidate is not a dealership worth trusting with a dime. I rarely leave reviews. But some experiences demand to be documented - not out of anger, but out of responsibility to the next customer who walks through their doors unaware. If Capital Toyota reads this, I hope the discomfort is enough to spark change. No business that treats people this way should be surprised when customers take their money - and their loyalty -elsewhere. I feel so strongly, that I have also crafted a letter to Toyota’s Brand Engagement Center. Luckily I was smart enough to record my conversation with “the manager”, and I am looking forward to their response. Shame on you! More

Bought a 2017 Chevy Tahoe premier from capital toyota in April 2025, paid roughly 30k. Could not have had more trouble out of this vehicle so far. AC compressor failed, brand new tires that have problems si April 2025, paid roughly 30k. Could not have had more trouble out of this vehicle so far. AC compressor failed, brand new tires that have problems since the day they put them on, constant engine issues to include multiple cylinder failures. All of this in the first six months. Multiple electrical systems have state they need servicing according to the dash, which began popping up within one week of purchase. At the time, a teacher with a third child on the way, I feel as though the dealership sold me a faulty vehicle, at a high price. As for the service department, when I attempted to bring it in to have the AC looked at in JUNE, I was told it would be on site for up to a week… In no world is any of this acceptable. It is disheartening to know my family was seemingly taken advantage of. I can give specific names of the salesperson and manager, but I don’t think it is a person issue at the root, it is seemingly a dealership, character issue. More
