Collin Gervais was born & raised right here in Nashville! He has been working for over five years with the Nissan brand; of which his favorite model is definitely the Maxima. He is currently in the 7th Nissan of his own, having owned a Sentra, three Altimas, & three Maximas! Fun fact about Collin: he also admittedly loves Apple products; this has earned him the title of our resident "tech guru". Bad situation gone great. I originally scheduled an appointment to see a specific vehicle I had seen on Cars.com. The dealership called me to set up an appointment to test dri I originally scheduled an appointment to see a specific vehicle I had seen on Cars.com. The dealership called me to set up an appointment to test drive the vehicle, which I did. We live in Nashville, so it was a challenge getting my wife's and my schedule aligned and camp pickup and childcare arranged for our kids on the day of the appointment. We received multiple confirmation phone calls, (3 to be exact), after setting the appointment to ensure that we were indeed coming out for a test drive. The final one occurring on the morning or our appointment. I called the dealer back that afternoon, before our scheduled appointment time, to let them know that we were on our way, but running a little late due to the childcare coordination, and would be there in about an hour. I asked to speak to the person we had an appointment with and was told that they had left for the day. I told them that we had an appointment and asked to speak to the manager who told me that she had a Dr. appointment but would be back. When we arrived there was no sign of the vehicle, or anyone else in the used car building for that matter. They were supposed to have the car out and ready for our arrival according to our previous conversations/confirmations. We waited in the lobby for a bit, looked in every office and eventually went over to the new car building. When we entered Dave greeted us and I told him about our appointment and he got to work. He asked around and ended up haveing the misfortune of informing us that they had sold the vehicle earlier that afternoon. Needless to say my wife and I were pissed having just driven over an hour in rush hour traffic from Nashville just to see this vehicle. I asked to speak to the manager I had spoken with just an hour before and informed him bluntly about my dissatisfaction with how the situation was handled and the hoops we had jumped through, etc. Why had no one called us to let us know? He gave me a watercolor weak excuse about not knowing about the situation when he spoke and quickly pawned us back off on Dave. Dave apologized immensely for what had happened and introduce us to Collin to see if there was anything they could do to make up for their coworkers' mistakes. Unfortunately there was only one other vehicle that met our specifications on their lot and another family was in the process of negotiating a deal on it. I wanted to drive something, anything, so, while we awaited their decision, we drove a vehicle that did not meet the standards we had set for the vehicle we wanted to buy. When we returned from out test drive, the family was walking out the door to "sleep on" their decision, which meant it was still available for our review. We quickly hopped in and gave it too a spin along the test path. This vehicle had everything we were looking for, minus the entertainment package that the original vehicle had, which we had deemed merely a bonus. Collin was extremely knowledgeable, courteous and patient the entire time we met with him. In the end, after some negotiating, we were able to come to terms on a vehicle three years newer with 50K fewer miles than the one we had originally gone to see. It even had two years remaining on the factory warranty. Best of all, to make up for their poor coordination on the front end, they gave us top dollar for my 2005 Pathfinder trade in. I would highly recommend working with Dave and Collin as they made up for the original inconvenience by being upstanding gentlemen willing to work hard to turn a bad situation into a great one. Just get their confirmation that the car is available and that they will hold it for you before driving an hour to go see it. More
