They told me I should make an appointment for my oil change, so I made an appointment for Saturdat at 11AM. When I got there I was told it would take an hour. I told them I was surprised because an oil change, so I made an appointment for Saturdat at 11AM. When I got there I was told it would take an hour. I told them I was surprised because an oil change does not take an hour and I had an appointment. I was told that when they make an appointment, it is not for a time but for a place in line. Even though I got there at 10:59, they didn't know if they would get to it right away. Fpor that reason they told me it might take as long as an hour. If they are going to make appointments for a time, then they should be planning to honor the appointment. If that is not the plan, they they should be honest about what they are doing. It would work out better for them and their customers. If, for example, they told me I had reserved 14th place in line and that they expected to get to that around 11am, then I would not have expected to be taken at 11. Instead, I might have called around 10 and asked what time it looked like they would be getting to the 14th place in line. That way I could come in close to the time they were ready for me and not waste so much of my time. It would also work out better for the service department. If someone calls about when there place in line is likely to come up and there is an earlier slot that is still open then that customer can come in earlier. The mechanics will spend less time idle and maybe get to go home early some days. More
