JT and the crew at BMW are the straight shooters you’re looking for. Avoid the Bay, avoid LA, and come have an enjoyable buying experience in a beautiful place. Worth the drive every time. JT was awesome and very helpful when it came to buying a car. Bought plenty of cars in the past but JT was very helpful and understood what I wanted. I would definitely come back here when I need to add to car. Bought plenty of cars in the past but JT was very helpful and understood what I wanted. When I purchased my previous BMW 335i from BMW Concord, the experience set a very high standard for what I believed buying a BMW from a dealership should be. Because of that experience, I drove more than t the experience set a very high standard for what I believed buying a BMW from a dealership should be. Because of that experience, I drove more than three hours each way to BMW San Luis Obispo to purchase my M340i. I wasn’t expecting a perfect used car, but I was expecting a buying experience that reflected the BMW brand. Before making the trip, I noticed curb rash on one of the wheels in the walk-around video and told my salesperson I would not purchase the car unless it was repaired. To the dealership’s credit, they refinished the wheel before I arrived, and I appreciated that effort. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience did not meet those expectations. Within minutes of the test drive, I approached a crosswalk where pedestrians were crossing and had to press the brake pedal much harder than I expected to stop. It genuinely concerned me, and I immediately said I would not buy the car if the brakes performed that way. A manager later drove the car and said everything was normal, and the brakes felt better during a second drive. Whether there was ultimately an issue isn’t really the point. What stayed with me was how the atmosphere changed after I raised a legitimate safety concern. I no longer felt like the dealership was focused on earning my confidence. I also didn’t realize until I was in the finance office that the vehicle was being sold as is. I accepted those terms, but I still expected a BMW dealership to thoroughly inspect, maintain, and prepare a vehicle before offering it for sale. My biggest concern involved the $2,000 protection package. Before signing, I asked to review the paperwork line by line because nothing had been explained. That’s when I noticed the charge. It was presented as something that had already been applied to the vehicle rather than as an optional product. I questioned the price because I detail my own vehicles and know ceramic coatings don’t automatically justify a $2,000 cost. I also received conflicting explanations. The finance office told me the protection could be serviced at any BMW dealership, while the salesperson said it would require returning to BMW San Luis Obispo. I agreed based on the first explanation. Had I known otherwise, I likely would have made a different decision. Even today, I still don’t know exactly what I purchased. I have repeatedly asked what product was used, whether any paint preparation or correction was performed, and what the package actually includes. I asked those same questions in an email to the general manager, but they were never answered. After taking ownership, I discovered additional issues. The glove compartment didn’t work properly, the windshield washer system required repair, and BMW Concord later told me the oil service had been overdue since April 2025 and by more than 10,000 miles. They were surprised it hadn’t been completed before the vehicle was sold. I was also told a paint chip would be repaired, but the only solution offered was returning to San Luis Obispo. I also spent about $1,000 repairing cosmetic damage to the front bumper and gloss black trim and another $900 purchasing a second BMW key fob. Just before leaving the dealership, I noticed the rear tow hook cover was missing, and a cover was removed from another car on the lot and installed on mine. To be fair, everyone I dealt with was polite, and the fuel tank was filled before I left. My disappointment has never been with the car itself. I genuinely enjoy my M340i. It has been with the preparation of the vehicle, the inconsistent communication, and the overall buying experience. I am not asking for reimbursement or compensation. I simply believe buying a BMW from a BMW dealership should feel different than buying a car from an ordinary used car lot. I wasn’t looking for perfection. I was looking for preparation. More
