I purchased a new 2025 Kia Carnival from Oakes Kia after negotiating the trade-in and purchase the day before. I arrived when the dealership opened, but no one was available to work with me. After waiting about 20 minutes, I was sent to another building, where I sat forgotten until I stopped someone. Another 45 minutes passed before a representative appeared and asked whom I was waiting for. Revisiting the previously negotiated paperwork took another two hours. I arrived at 9 a.m., and it was already 1 p.m. before financing began. In financing, I clearly declined an extended warranty, but then experienced about 45 minutes of persistent sales pressure. I was told the dealership could buy down the interest rate if I purchased the warranty. I said I would consider it depending on the math, but the numbers did not make sense. The finance representative then said she had already bought down the rate because I had supposedly agreed, which I had not. When her manager came in and I explained what happened, he told me, "You know we don't have to sell you this vehicle." After roughly six hours at the dealership, I felt pressured and under significant duress, but completed the purchase at the price and rate agreed upon the previous day, without the extended warranty. This happened about a year ago, and the experience still stands out. The Kia Carnival itself has been great, and I would buy one again—just not from this dealership. More

What started as a wonderful experience, turned out ending deceitful. We feel like they gained our trust and then got us to agree to purchase a "membership" and extended warranty that are both essentially non deceitful. It is so unfortunate that no one believes in straight forward honesty anymore. This dealership is ok, but just know the VIP membership does have a cost and any extra warranty you purchase can only be canceled if there is no lien on the car (so basically only if you pay cash can you cancel), which they do not disclose to you. More

Car availability good. Everything was fine until it came time to go to financing portion. I can't count how many times I expressed that I was not interested in an extended warranty at the time of purchase, but it was continued to be hammered at me. Also, my initial response on the VIP membership was that I was interested in looking at it, but then after realizing the cost and what it entailed, I expressed that it wasn't right for me. After the grueling financing discussion and my brain wore out from the repeated attempts for me to sign an extended warranty, apparently I signed off on the VIP membership package. After a second meeting at the dealership for some additional paperwork I apparently needed to sign, I encountered both sales and finance persons to let them know I didn't recall signing that, I was informed that all new paperwork would need to be drafted up and signed. I agreed to that. Of course this was right at the start of a long memorial day weekend and it was quiet. The very next week, I was informed by head of finance at Oakes NKC that I signed the VIP membership and it can't be cancelled. Boy how I feel I got bamboozled into this while deal. I will not purchase another vehicle or step foot in Oakes Kia NKC again. I hope my VIP membership is good at the location in Olathe, otherwise I guess my attorney will be bringing it in for service.
