My wife and I lease a Hyundai every 3 years as we love the brand and my wife likes all the new gadgets. Typically, we lease from a dealership up north as we’ve always had great service and a great relati the brand and my wife likes all the new gadgets. Typically, we lease from a dealership up north as we’ve always had great service and a great relationship. That was our plan this year as we were planning to do a 2024 Santa Fe. But since they are not going to come out for a while, we decided test drive a 2023 Santa Fe Limited Hybrid on September 30th. Long story short we had no plan on purchasing that day, but we ended up agreeing to lease that vehicle. We essentially bought the vehicle that Saturday parked it in the garage for the week until we went back to Jenkins that next Friday to get the windows tinted. At that time we noticed we had only one set of keys. Even though both my wife and ‘I know we did see the second set when we bought the vehicle, and I’m 99% sure that our salesperson handed me the keys. However both my wife and I don’t remember seeing the keys other than at the dealership. Another odd thing that happened is the key ring that had the keys for the 2020 lease that we traded in, we remember the salesperson taking the 2020 keys off but we didn’t get the key ring until the following Friday when we got the windows tinted, as they were left at the dealership. I’m still almost positive we got the second set of keys for the 2023 but haven’t seen them after we left the dealership that Saturday when we bought the car. After far as we know we dropped them when we were walking out the door or transferring the stuff from our 2020 to our 2023. I do think it is my responsibility but at the same time I would hope that Jenkins would work with me somewhat to remedy this situation. I can buy the OEM key fob for $95 online, and I know it needs to be programmed. The price I was quoted by Jenkins is $642. I would hope Jenkins would be willing to work with me somewhat due to the unique situation/circumstances, for example offer to sell me the key fob at cost or something. But it doesn’t appear so. Another complication and something that we really liked about the new 2023 was the digital key feature. We spent quite a bit of time with the Jenkins employees on the day we bought the car and again on last Friday to get the digital key working on the smartphone. Basically, they said it should work but have no idea why it doesn’t work, so that has also been extremely frustrating. More
