I want to address the General Sales Manager’s response because it gives the impression that the dealership is just now learning about this situation and wants an opportunity to investigate it. That is not because it gives the impression that the dealership is just now learning about this situation and wants an opportunity to investigate it. That is not consistent with my documented experience. The dealership has known about this dispute since the very beginning. Within hours of signing on June 30, I notified the dealership in writing that I wanted the additional products canceled. I returned the following day and completed cancellation paperwork. After that, I repeatedly raised concerns about the financing, the added products, and how my cancellation was handled. This was not one unanswered complaint. I continued communicating with dealership management and Hyundai and repeatedly attempted to resolve the matter directly. The dealership had opportunities to review the paperwork, communications, and cancellation issue long before this public response was posted. That is why I find the statement that the dealership is now “concerned” and would like an opportunity to “look into this further” difficult to reconcile with what has already occurred. I appreciate the public acknowledgment that my cancellation requests were not processed as quickly as they should have been. But my concern is not whether the dealership is willing to look into the matter now. My concern is what happened after I raised these issues repeatedly and gave the dealership opportunities to address them. I have preserved the contracts, cancellation paperwork, text messages, financing records, and communications documenting that history. The matter is now proceeding through formal complaint channels. I remain willing to consider a genuine written resolution, but I believe the documented timeline speaks for itself. More

Thank you for responding, Mr. Haymoor. I appreciate your acknowledgment that my cancellation requests were not processed as quickly as they should have been. However, the issue Haymoor. I appreciate your acknowledgment that my cancellation requests were not processed as quickly as they should have been. However, the issue goes beyond a simple processing delay. I requested cancellation of the additional products within hours of signing and returned to the dealership the following day to complete cancellation paperwork. Despite that, the transaction proceeded without the financing being rewritten as I requested. I have retained the relevant contracts, cancellation paperwork, text messages, financing records, and communications regarding this matter. The issue is currently being reviewed through formal complaint/claim channels. I am willing to discuss a resolution, but because this matter is disputed and under review, I would prefer that any substantive communication or proposed resolution be provided in writing so there is a clear record. You are welcome to contact me through DealerRater or provide an appropriate email address for further communication. — Michael Barr More

I purchased a new 2026 Hyundai Elantra SE from Tonkin Gladstone Hyundai on June 30, 2026. I came in with a $3,000 down payment and a $2,000 Hyundai incentive. I made it clear that I needed an affordable Gladstone Hyundai on June 30, 2026. I came in with a $3,000 down payment and a $2,000 Hyundai incentive. I made it clear that I needed an affordable payment and expected to finance roughly $17,000. After the purchase, I discovered that thousands of dollars in additional products had been included in the financing, including an extended warranty and protection products. These were not products I wanted to keep. Within hours of leaving the dealership on June 30, I texted the salesperson and specifically requested that the products be removed. The next day, July 1, I physically returned to the dealership and signed cancellation paperwork. I kept copies of my communications and paperwork. Despite my cancellation request, the financing went forward with the disputed products still included. The records I obtained show a RouteOne processing timestamp dated July 3, 2026—after I had already requested cancellation by text and returned to the dealership to sign cancellation paperwork. What makes this especially troubling to me is that the salesperson later communicated an amount of approximately $18,003 after the products were removed. Yet the financing was still processed with the disputed products included. I am on a fixed disability income, and affordability was extremely important to me. I repeatedly communicated what I could afford. Adding thousands of dollars to a long-term auto loan has a significant impact on the total amount financed, monthly payment, and interest paid over the life of the loan. I have tried to resolve this through the dealership and Hyundai Motor Finance. I have retained the sales documents, text messages, cancellation paperwork, financing documents, and RouteOne timestamp supporting the timeline described above. I am sharing my experience so other consumers know to carefully review every number before leaving a dealership. Do not focus only on the monthly payment. Look closely at the amount financed, every optional product, and the total cost of the loan. If you cancel anything, get the cancellation in writing, keep a copy, and verify afterward that it was actually removed from the financing. I can only speak to my own experience, but I believe consumers deserve to know what happened to me and decide for themselves whether they are comfortable doing business here. More
