I recently purchased a used Ford Fusion from Beaver Toyota. It was an older model with low miles, and I felt comfortable buying from a large reputable dealership because I assumed the vehicle had been Toyota. My salesperson, Landon, was very helpful, and I clearly explained that I needed something affordable and reliable for my 3 kids. Two weeks later, the car suddenly would not go over 5 MPH leaving work. I had to have it towed back to the dealership through AAA. I specifically asked for updates because Memorial Day weekend was coming up and I needed transportation for my family. Thursday — no update. Friday — no update. Saturday — no update Sunday closed Memorial Day was Monday No returned calls either , I had to call Tuesday. Virtually no communication at all. Finally on Tuesday, I was told they needed to “get me into another car,” without even properly explaining what was wrong with the vehicle they had just sold me, literally no explanation. The issue was that every replacement vehicle in my price range had extremely high mileage, and I could not afford to increase my payment for something more expensive. I told them I was completely fine with either: * fixing the vehicle they sold me and giving it back Or * refunding my deposit so we could simply part ways Neither option was acceptable to them. I even told them they could keep my deposit because I didn’t want to deal with the headache, just get me out of the contract with the car ( this isn’t something I should have to do ) What frustrated me most was being told by Landon “you should have bought a warranty.” And they “were being generous” offering to get me into another vehicle… with way more miles , I’m talking 150k miles , 300k Prius …. A vehicle sold by a major dealership should last longer than TWO WEEKS before becoming undriveable. Customers should not be blamed for expecting a dealership to stand behind the cars they sell. Instead, they are pressuring me into another vehicle I do not want because the original car failed almost immediately after purchase. . I also understand the “risk” I take buying a used vehicle, this car had 45k miles on it and If I’m being honest, I couldn’t afford the warranty they offered. I assumed I was making a good purchase. This is BEAVER Toyota , not Craigslist. The whole reason I went to a dealership instead of buying private party was to avoid this type of thing happening. Very disappointing experience overall. More
