It is nice to know that Bonneville has some concern about customer experiences. Although we have several examples of how Bonneville has wasted our time, let me share the most recent with you: We received a mass mailing in late July/early August with the name William Dunn saying your dealership was interested in purchasing our 2011 Patriot, and that you thought we would be pleased with your aggressive offer. After returning from our vacation, I tried calling Bonneville on August 18 at the number listed, but ended up in an endless voicemail loop. Having received an identical card from a MA dealer, I also called and left a voicemail there (which they never returned). Nonetheless, on August 19, Donna called from your dealership saying she was told to call us. I explained the reason for my call. I made it clear that we were only interested in possibly selling the Jeep, not in buying another. I also asked about a possible value range, to see if it was worth our time to talk further, but she said the Jeep would need to be viewed in person. I asked if I should set up an appointment to do so, but she said I could come any time and talk to anyone, though she encouraged me to come on Saturday, when there would be free food. On August 21, I took time off work and drove to your dealership. Donna was not there, but Matthew, who was by the door, agreed to speak with me. I handed him the card we had received, and again reiterated that we were only interested in selling the Patriot (as the card stated), not buying another car. With my prior experiences in buying and selling cars (we currently own 5), I came prepared with the full folder maintenance record, as well as research on what this vehicle should be valued at for dealer purchases , as well as what used Patriots on your own lot were listed at. He asked me what we wanted for the vehicle, and I told him what would be an "aggressive offer" that would please us, though acknowledged that we may have differing opinions about the valuation of the vehicle and I understood that the dealership needed to make some profit. After realizing our Patriot was a manual transmission, he said you have a hard time selling manuals, and combined with my firm statement that we would not be buying a vehicle, clearly he had no interest from there on out. Despite having a meticulously maintained vehicle, he said (without taking a close look) that it would require Bonneville to put in $1000 worth of work, then he gave me a number 1/3 less than the "aggressive and pleased" number I put out there. It was so far out of consideration, it wasn't worth taking more of my time to talk further. To add insult to injury, we then received a form letter from William Dann dated August 26 (as we did from the other dealership that never called us back)saying he was excited that we responded to the recent offer, and was extending the offer for another week to give us more time to discuss our options. This letter, however, then went on to talk about incentives and inventory for purchase of another vehicle- which was never mentioned in the first mailing. Bonneville had several opportunities here to not waste my time 1) by not sending out a form letter if they were not serious about purchasing a vehicle without sales of another 2) being forthright when I first spoke to Donna about the intent of the offer or the price range of my vehicle 3) giving fair purchase prices for vehicles to people whom you have invited in the door under the guise of purchasing their vehicle. 4) not sending a follow-up form letter on this if you are not serious about purchasing my sepecific (manual transmission) vehicle. If Matthew or Donna or the dealership managers somehow erred in their understanding of the promotion, we may still consider selling our Patriot to your dealership . Otherwise, this is yet another example of your dealership wasting our time, which is the essence of my review.
