This place is the personification of what you think an auto dealer is, and worse. Went to see 3 preowned cars for my daughter. I was wondering why the salesman was so smug and snarky, until the manager came over to “close” the deal. Rude, obnoxious and condescending. The poor attitude permeates the entire building. Presented us their deal at $3000 over industry normal for similar cars and then added their exorbitant fees, taking advantage of COVID by charging a $399 sterilization fee, trying to charge $1850 to “certify” a car that only had 9000 miles on it. Other dealers at $1200 on older cars. He throws a car fax and KBB paper in front of me (which I looked up before going) and tells my they’re within range. I then asked for prices for 2 other cars and he wouldn’t even bother. Just told me “they’re not in your range”. Once they realized they didn’t have a sucker ready to believe their BS, they couldn’t be bothered. We went to a nearby dealer, were treated well, and struck a deal on a better car at a noticeably better price. This is our second Honda. We stopped here first both times, and regretted it. First time was for a new vehicle, walked out and vowed never to go back. Only went back because they had the three cars my daughter was interested in. Figured they couldn’t be that bad twice, 3 years apart, boy were we wrong. Went to other local Honda dealers, and were treated well. More

I studied so hard to learn how to buy a used car. Last time I bought one was 10 years ago, and dealers do this every day, so they have a lot more experience at car dealing. Before you go, know what you want, check with the BBB, know the value of your trade-in (if applicable), and arrange to have your mechanic look over the vehicle before buying it. Don't have one? Get an independent one, even if the dealer says the vehicle is Pre-Certified. Sometimes when a car sits on the lot for a long time (say 2 years), stuff may have deteriorated (e.g. wipers). Be prepared to spend hours, and if you feel pressured at any point, take a break and come back. Sadly, some use "alternative facts." (e.g. They DO refer to Kelley Blue Book for car values.) Do your due diligence. It's YOUR MONEY. Get referrals from friends who they use at which dealerships. I rated Honda of Freehold 3/5 stars because the salesman displayed despicable behavior, but he has since apologized. Manager Peter and Administrator Amir wanted me to be happy as a customer, so they provided additional services for the car. Dan in the Finance Department was very pleasant and didn't pressure me to take out a loan with them after I declined their interest rate. Know how you will finance your car before you go. If they have a better rate than what you have found, then it's good to have an option. READ EVERYTHING VERY CAREFULLY before you sign. I found the bottom line stayed the same, but line items had been altered from what was discussed with Manager Steve at Damian's desk. I learned some lessons and hope to remember them the next time I buy a car. Bottom line: I got the car I wanted, and Manager Peter and Administrator Amir made me feel that I was a very valued customer. More
