Motto for Town & Country Used Cars should be Caveat Empt While in the hunt for a Jeep Liberty we ended up at Town & Country used cars in Levittown and BOY did this place waste our time. The price IS NOT what While in the hunt for a Jeep Liberty we ended up at Town & Country used cars in Levittown and BOY did this place waste our time. The price IS NOT what you see and they will not flex to make it so or work with you either. We had found what we thought was a nice 2011 Liberty for around 15k amongst what looked like a great selection of good looking vehicles. We had our own financing arranged in hand and for a great APR which we had told them when we had walked in the first time a week prior while in the research stage. We were told that we were free to use our own financing, at that time, that it was not a problem. We test drove two Liberty’s and settled on one when we were told that on top of the price there was a significant fee, for delivery and dealer prep AND that we had to take their financing with at least a point higher interest, which I am sure would have included a loan origination fee too, which was not disclosed at that time either. The 15k vehicle suddenly had another 2+k added to the price, not including sales tax and though we had been ready to take the plunge we walked out with feeling disgusted and more than a little soiled in the process. They treat you nicely in the door, but then insult you with lots of added fees, and though we could afford it we did not want to deal with anyone who was so underhanded as to apply such a bait and switch on the price and who would try to gouge you for every penny they could get you for. I know they are in business to make money, but if they had been up front about the finances to start we could have looked at things much more realistically and perhaps gone in to other vehicles there in our search or simply not wasted our time as we had. We should have taken the hint when the couple before us had walked out when they offered pay full cash for a similar Liberty just minutes before, telling us that they were told that the price only applied for people financing and that there were additional charges. So far the only places we have seen which do not seem to play this game are Enterprise car dealers in Hempstead and D&P in Merrick, so far. The only justification the people at Town & Country Used could offer was that their “internet ad stated that you had to finance with [them] and that other fee’s would apply”, without specifying exact amounts. This is a crummy and underhanded way to do business defying the spirit of truth in advertising, yes they tell you that there are fees, but they do not tell you what they are until you are about to close the deal. Thankfully my wife and I are not stupid, or at least she is not, and we are more than willing to walk when we feel people are trying to mess with a deal; In short we walked away feeling that the reputation of the typical used car sales person had truly been justified at Town & Country Used Cars and the motto for them should be Caveat Emptor! bought cetified used car that was never inspected i purchased a certified used dodge charger and besides paying $7000 more then the FINAL PRICE listed on the site. right off the lot we knew the wheels i purchased a certified used dodge charger and besides paying $7000 more then the FINAL PRICE listed on the site. right off the lot we knew the wheels werent aligned, the lumbar in the seat didnt work and the sun visor wasnt screwed in right and was falling off. within 200 miles i needed new tires and when bought my new tires i was told i needed new tie rods. i put about 800 miles on the car. i brought the car to a different dodge to get it fixed and they told me i needed a new suspension. they also redid the certified used inspection because its obvious town and country did not. so after the inspection they also found my engine mount also needed to be fixed. this place is horrible. the people who work here are very ignorant. they have attitude problems and each person says the person before him didnt know what they were talking about. stay clear of this scam place More

BE CAREFUL THOUSANDS IN HIDDEN FEES ARROGANT AND UNINFORMED when i first saw the car I wanted i called and asked the woman who answered if i could pay with a capital one check and the rest in cash to which i wa when i first saw the car I wanted i called and asked the woman who answered if i could pay with a capital one check and the rest in cash to which i was told it is no problem. when i went to get the car as soon as i mentioned the check i was told "If youre not financing with us the price isnt the same" i said thats against the law you must sell the car for the price listed. i was then told that right by the price it says only if you finance through us. ( Which is a lie) i explained to youri (the man "helping" me) when i called i should have been informed of that. he told me the woman at the desk knows nothing. he then told me the check i was holding in my hand wasnt a check. he had this idea that i had to get my credit run again and get qualified for a check i was already qualified for and holding in my hand. he then went on to explain that he worked for capital one and thats how it works ... again he was wrong. so i asked how to go about getting their financing to which i was told they would have to run my credit "once". at the time i was hesitant bc i just had my credit run to get the check that he insisted was not a check. i finally agreed. they ran my credit 6 times (which i didnt know until i recieved denial letters). now the price of the car was $13,985 and right next to it where Youri claimed it said only if you use our financing... it actually said final price and i have pitures of the site to prove this. so you would think 13,985 would actually be the final price before taxes of course. but now he adds gas delivery and a few other charges so the car ends up being $17000 WITH THEIR FINANCING!!! so i tell him i want to put down $7000 in cash to which im now told i can only put down 10% and i have to finance 90% through them to which i still agree. i put down a $500 deposit and i was told if anything goes wrong it would be returned to me within two weeks. for some reason i couldnt get the insurance that day so i gave the deposit and left, i tried for a few days to get the insurance and i was having an issue so i called and spoke to youri and told him to cancel and send me my refund and he said ok. about a week later i was able to get the insurance and i went back to get the car. i was told the $500 deposit was already in the mail. now i go into a room with a guy named steve whos going to "help" me with the financing. . this guy steve asked me how much im going to put down and i told him 10% like im allowed his response was you can put down whatever you want. i explained that youri told me i could only put down 10% and he said i dont know why youri told you that he doesnt know what hes talking about. so i try to put down $4000 cause thats all i had on me. you would think that should come off the 17000. WRONG. . somehow after i put $4000 cash down i still owe $17000 on the $13,985 car. with my capital one check i had i would have been paying $250 a month. Steve tells me the financing through them is 399 a month . i told him thats never happening i was going to pay 250 with my loan. so now he tells me he can get it lower but i need to add different types of warranties which will lower the interest and not change the price.so i added a extended warranty and a tire warranty. I bought the car anyway even though i was sure i was being robbed. now im waiting for my refund check, a month goes by and nothing i call youri on his cell phone and he tells me hes gonna go check it out now, give him about a half hour and hell call me back. he didnt call me back so i again called his cell phone and he didnt answer. i called about 3 times with no answer then called the buisness itself and was told hes unavailable could we take a message. i told them to have youri call me back and he didnt. the next day i call again and he tells me give him an hour and call him back. i call back in an hour (again calling his cell) with no response. the next day i call and speak to a manager who tells me to give him a half hes going to find out whats going on and hell call me back. he said he doesnt understand why youri didnt just issue the refund it takes 5 minutes. so in a half hour he calls me back and says your absolutely right we owe you $500. the reason it wasnt sent out (although i was already told it was in the mail) was it was not put it as a depost. (hmmm very fishy) but it wil be sent out tomorrow morning. so i had to wait almost 2 months to get my refund. i lost my phone about the time i recieved the check and wanted information on how to go about getting the car checked when need be. so i went into the online chat and explained to them the situation. i was told i would be contacted within 24 hours and was not contacted, this happened about 8 times before i stopped contacting them. then i recieved an email saying my 3 months is almost up, schedule an appointment for them to look over the car. again i went online to find out about this process to which i was lied to again and told i would be contacted through email. i did this everyday for about a week and the last person i spoke to i explained everything that happened from day 1. i was told i would be contacted by a manager via email. the next day i receive an email from a manager but he tells me to call although ive explained way too many times that i do not have a phone. so my 3 month inspection was never done. when i finally got a phone i called and spoke to a manager who i tried to explain everything that happened but the ignorant man kept cutting me off. he told me steve (the man who helped with financing) was wrong about what i can put down for deposit. he also said steve made money on my $4000 deposit and thats why it didnt go towards the price of the car. he claimed everywhere charges for delivery gas etc, which isnt true when the place says final price. i explained to him what happened with the 3 months and he had this idea that no one on his side did anything wrong. so everyone i spoke to said the prior person didnt know what they were talking about, they were rude, disrespectful, not helpful in any way. they robbed me of over $4000 and did nothing to make up for all the probelms they caused. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE More

I was planning on shipping the Jeep back to Califonia since that is where I was moving. I came to the dealership somewhat rushed because I had to make a flight for my fathers Oncology and Chemo appointments. Long story short, I sign the docs, but question the final sale price and everything else. They say its just the warranty price added in and everything else. Yes I signed the docs, sadly, but was dealing with an insanely stressful and timely personal situation. I missed my flight and the appointments nonetheless. 25,995 vs 29k sales price is completely different. They got me financed at a decent rate and were quick about getting the docs in front of me. They wouldn't give me a 2nd key until I begged profusely given the used car came with only one key. More

So Impressed I will always return here I will always check out this dealer whenever I look to buy a car. They had the best prices advertised, but I was skeptical and nervous. I've had ver I will always check out this dealer whenever I look to buy a car. They had the best prices advertised, but I was skeptical and nervous. I've had very uncomfortable dealings with NY Dealers before. Luckily, I was paired with Billy C. as my customer service rep from the Pre-Owned Department. Billy was knowledgeable, friendly, and listened for what I wanted. We wasted no time on anything other than what I was interested in. From our saying hello to his putting my new plates on my new (certified pre-owned) he was nothing but helpful, relaxed, and honest. In truth, I was blown away at how easy it was. One of the last steps was the financing of our purchase which Rich DeMott helped my wife and I through. Basically, Rich was a prince. He wasted not a second of our time. The paperwork was simple with no surprises and I got a rate bettter than they mentioned on the phone, which already beat my credit union. During our brief time together (thank you, God), rich showed me two ways to better my credit. He also said to stop buy when I get my "freecreditreport" and we'll have a cup of coffee together while he shows me how to clean up items from my past. These are good people who care about my time as well as their reputation. From beginning to end Town & Country far exceeded my and my wife's expectations. Thank you guys! More

Great Sales Experience I was very pleased with my pre-owned purchase. Jim Stannish was extremely professional and his helpful and straight approach is what made us come back I was very pleased with my pre-owned purchase. Jim Stannish was extremely professional and his helpful and straight approach is what made us come back to purchase. I myself have been in the car business, and Jim delt with me straight up which I aprreciated. Joe, the used car manager made us feel the same way. They were looking to help us get into a car and make us comfortable, while doing business for their facility. Rich in finance was also terrfic. Rich was very pleasant and never once made anything change on the deal. I will be honest, working in dealerships myself, I was waiting for a problem to arise, but this team delivered what they said. I will recommend this sales team when I speak about this dealership. Thank you for great service More
