Once I asked for a final price, they slapped on over $4,200 in non-negotiable garbage, including: • $1,499 for a “Nano Armor” ceramic coating • $864 for a GPS tracker • $1,895 for “prep and delivery” — on a used car When I pushed back, they told me this was “just how they do it.” They would not remove the charges, even though I never requested or agreed to any of them. This was not a miscommunication — this was intentional deception. This dealership uses classic bait-and-switch tactics. They advertise one price, then refuse to honor it unless you agree to inflated, high-margin junk you don’t need. This is a predatory and dishonest sales model, and based on dozens of other reviews, they’ve been doing it for over a year with the same staff. The worst part? They treat it like it’s normal. No apology. No effort to correct anything. Just pure greed. I walked away and filed formal complaints with the BBB, FTC, and Attorney General. If you’re reading this and thinking about buying a car from here — don’t. They don’t deserve your money, and they sure don’t deserve your trust. More

I came with my own pre-approval letter specifying the bank I wanted to use, yet they disregarded my instructions and sent my information to multiple lenders. They also charged me over 11% in sales tax, which exceeds the legally allowable sales tax rates in Illinois. Additionally, they included add-on fees that were not disclosed on their website, which violates the Illinois Vehicle Advertising Regulations (Illinois Administrative Code Title 14, Section 475.590). Please do yourself a favor and shop somewhere else. This business operates unethically and should be held accountable for their deceptive practices. More

Hands-down the worst new car dealership experience yet! DO NOT waste your time like we did. They seem to think the end consumer is so anxious for a car they overlook the massive bait and switch! I 100% verified we actually qualified for $7031 so we knew it was $7031 off MSRP on a brand new 2024 VW GTI 380 SE. They enticed us with a Black Friday bonus deal of 0% financing for this exact car in stock for $15,000 so we intended to pay a little over $23,000 in cash and finance that $15,000. We arrived at 9:05am (they open at 9am) today 11/29/2024 on Black Friday and there are already several customers waiting ahead of us because all the salesman were late to get in (already a bad sign for us). Next we have to wait 10 minutes for a sales person to show up for work. He shows up, and the car runs out of gas 40 feet from it's parking space so they ran a brand new car with a high pressure fuel pump out of gas and chuckled and said this happens like 8 times a week and it's on purpose to keep them harder to steal. Alright so now we've wasted 20 minutes of our time and we sit in the salesman office who seems annoyed that we are immediately taking his time when he showed up late to work and he asked for our driver's license which I assumed was for test drive purposes. NO, he ran a credit check when he disappeared for 20 minutes and came back showing us the paperwork showing how we did qualify for the 0% but NOT for any single discount (so we had to pay MSRP to get the 0% on only $15,000). He could have simply told us ahead of time the 0% means no other discount but nope-- strung us along! BUT wait it gets worse because there is a mandatory $2000 'protection package' added on top of the MSRP. This isn't covid times any more buddy! We were expected to pay $33,000 cash (not $23,000 we calculated out) AND then still finance $15,000. We were never even offered to look at the car inside nor were we offered a test drive 1st... it was jump into numbers and here is what you will pay as if we would pay any price. We got up and walked out without even test driving or being offered even any water. Hands-down worst experience! We will never EVER set foot in ANY Bob Rohrman Auto group dealership again after this experience. We were ready to purchase TODAY but not after this horrible experience! BUYER BEWARE! Look at the other review warning about the Attorney General Consumer Fraud investigation and it all starts to make more sense! More

Gurnee volkwagon can’t be trust ed when it comes to buying used a used car. They sold me a vehicle they bought at auction that had been in an accident with a poor repair. Left message with Rohrman care and also now response. Stay a way it like the 80s movie used cars. No integrity from the dealership or organization as a whole. More

Alright the time as come. This is my 2nd review since I had to delete my 1st one in order to get money owed to us. Im a returning customer to this group for the 3rd time this was the taste they left with us. Everyone knows we are a hard working family and never xxxx anyone over. So here our experience. My son and I went and looked at a charger scat pack at the gurnee location. We arrived between by a salesperson which was awesome by the way. We gave our info and they brought the car up front so we can check it out and test drive. We got hyped up cause is sounded so nice. We opened the doors walked to the car stopped in our tracks. And automatically said naw we are good. It was beat to xxxx car for 34k. So since we were there my boy been talking about a Tesla also. The lot had 2. So our salesperson asked if we wanted to test drive it. He fell in love. We went back into the office began paperwork to purchase the Tesla. Well after 5 hours of negotiating price and our trade in we were able to bring the Tesla home. Nightmare 101. When buying a used Tesla make sure the car is unlocked from the previous owner so you can put the account in your name. This was not the case. The dealer sold him a locked Tesla, this mean through Tesla you can set up and account and supercharging can not be done. Many countless calls between the dealer and Tesla. Issued finally resolved after about 4 days. Then he gets a call saying he needs to come in. Finance is having issues with the loan. He needed a co-signer or more money down or 2-300 more a month payment. Unfortunately I did not like the finance manager’s attitude so I decided not to co-sign. I did not trust him. So at this point no loan on the car. My son then went to a credit union got approved but not for the full amount. We had to give the car back and take our trade in back. All this is fine. Typical business and we were ok with that. The only bad taste was dealing with the locked out Tesla account. No big deal. Game over. Next. Unfortunately not the case. We also had 2000 down payment owed to us. They told my son they need to look over the car make sure no damage was done and they will refund the funds. Well after 20 days countless phone calls and emails and a Facebook review that I had to delete they finally gave him his deposit back. Still not over. When my son got his Chrysler 300 on his way home the check engine light came on. We thought maybe the cold caused a sensor to stick. Now that’s it’s warmed up it’s still on. Well after scanning it and investigating we found 2 unclipped wire harness. Is this how you do people. I see your response to the bad reviews to call your office. Your staff will help us. Well we did. We tried. I can pull phone logs to prove it. I had to delete a negative review to get our refund back. I wonder how many other bad reviews people took down. Worst dealer ever! Lie about issues! Scamming people. Drove 2 hours for a car they told me 5 times had nothing wrong with it. The whole interior was ripped up. Not show Lie about issues! Engine is shaking and knocking when car first started. Looked at different car instead. Again interior was ripped they told me they can just stitch it or glue it. Windshield cracked. Front end crashed. Again no issues were listed. Dealership would rather insult you and say “you don’t know how the car is supposed to be” rather than work with you! Will never recommend this place!!! STAY AWAY!!! More
