He did a good job of keeping us informed and was extremely knowledgeable of the vehicle. We appreciate his help. There was no 2019 Atlas with the specifics we were looking for so Steve contacted his manager to look into other dealerships that could potentially offer a dealer trade. There were two that matched what we were looking for and after we committed, they called the dealerships to see if they were available. One was sold to another dealership in Florida while another was spoken for. Fair enough. At the point I began looking on my own and found one in Cedar Rapids (i think), Iowa. I contacted the dealership and told them that we lived in MN and were interested. The sales person had recalled speaking to the manager at Luther and told me that while the dealership owner had used the car to go to the airport, the vehicle was still available. I then contacted Luther and told them that I had heard a differently and that the car was available and wanted to see if we could facilitate a dealer trade, versus traveling to Iowa to buy it myself. The manager I spoke to, I want to say Brad but I could be mistaken, lectured me on how I had to be more patient but they would ask again. He made it seem as I was a burden while I was trying to determine whether or not this vehicle was available and to see if a dealer to dealer trade was an option or not. I don't remember being rude on the phone and was a little thrown off by his response. I don't expect to be pampered, but if I were selling something for $40K+ I promise you I would be much more respectful over the phone. Particularly if someone else had done the ground work to facilitate my sale. This had occurred on a Friday and I was going to wait until 10:30 on Monday to contact the dealership in Iowa directly as I really didn't care for my conversation on Friday and wasn't very keen on giving my business to Luther. Steve contacted me a little after 10 and told me that the dealer to dealer trade had gone through and I chose to work with Steve as at that point it was simply easier. The car arrived at the dealership much quicker than expected, and that was appreciated. We had pre-arranged financing with all of the appropriate paperwork and a check for the balance of the car. It still took over 4 hours to have our current car appraised and purchase our Atlas. This was much longer as expected as the sale was all but settled. I know that it was busy and there were a couple of people ahead of us, but I expected a little more help while Steve was busy, to get us in and out. The finance officer was good to work with and we appreciate he and Steve staying after hours to complete the sale but the fact that it took as long as it did to get an appraisal, write a check, and sign the paperwork was far too long. We didn't see much teamwork from the other employees or managers. So far we are happy with the car, but given a choice we would look elsewhere to buy another Volkswagen from a different dealership. Again, we enjoyed working with Steve. More
