Negligent Safety Inspection – 2023 CX-50 – Failed within 24 hours UPDATE: I have spoken with the General Manager and offered my apologies for the communication breakdown during our meeting. We are currently in a technical dialogue regarding a discrepancy between a camera visibility warning and an AWD drivetrain malfunction. I am working with Mazda Corporate to finalize the diagnosis and will update this review’s rating based on the final resolution. I am writing this to alert the management at Irwin Mazda to a significant failure in their service diagnostic process. I brought my 2023 CX-50 in because of a low-pitched "whirring" or "grinding" that sounds like a motorcycle following the car. This was accompanied by the car’s automatic emergency braking and radar cruise control systems completely disabling themselves. These symptoms—a specific mechanical noise paired with the shutdown of critical safety and all-wheel-drive systems—are identical to those documented in an official Mazda Technical Service Bulletin (TSB 03-004/23). Despite my clear reporting of these malfunctions, Irwin Mazda returned the vehicle to me on Feb 4th, claiming they performed a "thorough inspection" but found “nothing wrong.” The inadequacy of their inspection is proven by the fact that the failure recurred within 24 hours. On Feb 5th, the dashboard again lit up with "AWD Malfunction" and safety system warning lights. Disturbingly, the safety systems are now failing even when the mechanical noise is not present, indicating the issue is becoming more frequent and persistent. I have captured photographic evidence of these failures—proving the vehicle is logging faults that the service department either missed or ignored. Releasing a car with compromised safety sensors and a failing drivetrain back to a customer is a major liability. Furthermore, being denied a loaner or rental for a powertrain failure on a vehicle under factory warranty is unacceptable. I have escalated this to Mazda North American Operations and am requesting a secondary inspection by a Field Technical Specialist. If you expect a dealership to properly diagnose a documented safety failure the first time, avoid Irwin Mazda. More

This is at least the seventh vehicle I have bought from Irwin. This time I leased a CX 90 PHEV and had the pleasure of working with Sueann . The finance department was also extremely quick and efficient- after we shook hands on a deal and in the middle of doing the paperwork the manager realized I still could save a few more dollars a month- who does that in today’s world and that’s why you should go to Irwin- I know I will be for my next vehicle. From start to finish was one of the best experiences I’ve had with a dealership! It was definitely a family friendly atmosphere! No pressure and no games! Terrible response from dealership.
