My Review Of BMW of Tenafly:
My family and I had a long history with this dealer, back to when it was DiFeo BMW. We got 3 BMWs from them, the first of which we subsequently found that we had been ripped off. That salesperson has since long left the dealer. However, on our 2nd and 3rd cars, we had serious problems with service. The service department was completely unreliable and unresponsive. There were many instances of long waits just to see a service rep and missed deadlines for service on the car. In one occasion, shortly after I got my BMW 330i, the company issued a factory recall on the car software. This was just prior to a Memorial Day holiday. What began as missed deadlines and promises that they couldn't meet, the service department ended up keeping the car for the entire holiday weekend. Obviously, this messed up my plans so I was upset, however, there was no remedy, assurances of completion or apologies offered by the service rep
Since then, we have vowed never to step foot in this dealer again and haven't for the last 4 years and 3 cars. However, we recently purchased an X3, at another dealer, of course. Given their proximity, I went back for service, this time for a simple oil change. They open at 7:30 am and my appointment was for 7:45 am, which means I was the 2nd appointment. I got there on time but I ended up waiting 1 hour, which no acknowledgement. Given the bad history, I was fed up and asked for my car back as enough of my time was wasted. The service rep was surprised that I waited 1 hour. Unbelievable! The service rep should know his own schedule, and unless he was seeing his first customer of the day for an hour and 15 minutes, was obviously seeing other people who were behind me. I don't know who the manager of the service department is, but I sincerely hope he or she gets their act together.
After many years and a name change, this dealership has not changed. The sales staff isn't that great, but the service department is unbelievably horrible. I have found staff at other BMW dealers to be incredibly more helpful and diligent. Nevertheless, my family and I have moved on to another brand where both sales and service are reliable and punctual. Although BMW of Tenafly is convenient for me given its location, I will gladly travel out of my way to avoid them if we decide to get another BMW down the road.
