Thank you for bringing the matter to my attention via DealerRater. We clearly should have handled your visit at our Nissan store better. In fact, as a result of your posting we are retraining those involved about our existing policies that were not followed that day. Specifically: 1)You should have been contacted when Andre fell ill and been given the option to reschedule or retain your appointment with instructions to ask for one of our managers when greeted at the dealership. 2)Use of a personal cell phone by salespeople to read customer email, texting and voice contact with customers is acceptable while waiting for a new customer to arrive. It is never permissible to utilize your cell phone while you are with a customer or for personal reasons in the "public" areas of the dealership. 3)Any direct mail promotion we send should read "as much as" or "up to". Much of a vehicle's trade in value is based on condition. We do not know the vehicle's final value until we can see it and compare it to others in the market. Frequently, a dealer will show you a small discount on the vehicle you are purchasing and apply an additional, much larger, discount to the value of your trade. This sounds like what happened with your purchase but without the full particulars of your transaction I cannot be sure. In the end we did not provide the level of service that a reasonable person would expect. It has been a learning lesson for this store. We did not just lose a sale, we lost a loyal customer. Everyone involved has a better understanding of how important it is to stay within our company policy. Again I want to thank you for the time and the level of detail you have provided so we can ensure events like this will not occur again. I am equally disappointed and share in your frustration. We remained open past closing on Saturday to accommodate you as well as offering to incur additional expenses to dealer trade the color you preferred. Most perplexing to us is the fact that upon leaving the dealership you were very happy, in fact you expressed your gratitude and thanked us. We accepted your deposit and were in the process of transferring the vehicle that you committed to buy when you contacted us. We did in fact inadvertently disconnect you on your first call attempt on Monday. When you reached us however, you were already at another Nissan dealership. The vehicle you had chosen at the that dealer had less equipment than the one you agreed to at our dealership. We did not have a vehicle with less equipment in your color choice and we could not negotiate down to the price the competing dealer gave you because our car had more equipment than the one you ultimately purchased. While many dealers will not refund a deposit on a dealer trade vehicle, our policy is to make sure the customer comes first and to ensure customer satisfaction. We immediately processed a deposit refund. We sell 1200 new and used vehicles annually and have become York County’s #1 dealer group by not only offering volume savings, but also making customer satisfaction our number one priority! Although we rarely receive complaints, we do take each one seriously. I want to thank you for bringing this matter to our attention and I am pleased that you were able to find a Nissan that met your needs on acceptable terms.
