My Review of DCH Kay Honda:
I recently leased a car from Bill Knier, at DCH Kay Honda. From my initial phone conversation with Bill, which made me feel very comfortable about going into the dealership and pursing a deal, through the culmination of that deal, I felt that I had met the top (or at least tied for the top) sales person in my car buying career. (In my lifetime so far I have leased and purchased about 34 cars.) Bill went over a number of models that he thought might fit my need¸ and I decided to price an Accord EX-L.
At my request, Bill showed me a couple of variations for a deal. His patient and thoughtful explanations really made me feel good about going to see him. I did not get the feeling of being the adversary, as some dealerships can give you. I told Bill that I had to go home that day, and share the information with my wife. Bill’s demeanor didn’t wavier from outstanding when I first walked in, knowing now that he couldn’t close the deal on that first visit. Generally if a salesperson finds that their efforts didn’t get you to sign on the dotted line, with their first effort, you could see a change in their personality.
On the way out Bill introduced me to Chris Mizerny, a sales manager, who asked me if there was anything more he could do for me. I said, “Yes,” and would you believe, he even gave me more food for thought (and I mean that in a positive way) by giving me another variation of how to do the deal with that good pricing that Bill had just given me. I left there hoping that I could come back and do business with DCH Kay Honda.
I did look at one other make car, and decided I wanted a Honda. Now, I needed to get some competitive pricing, and did so at two other dealerships. One more local to me, and another also a distance away from my home. I then decided that in comparing dealers I wanted to do business with DCH and Bill, if possible. Bill made that an easier task by giving me his best pricing up front, without playing games that might not have brought me back to see him. Other dealers, when asked might say “well when you come back we’ll see if we can do any better.” What they don’t care about, is if not given the best price up front you may never come back to them seeking that better price.
I called Bill, and set up an appointment to come in. We went over everything, and then went into the finance person, Chris Olszewski. That was also a pleasant experience. No trying to push on us any after market items, just an explanation of what could be purchased. Then he gave me an explanation of all the paperwork that had to be signed and the money to be paid. On my initial visit to DCH Kay Honda I met Luke Haug, another finance person, who was very helpful in answering a few questions about extended warrantees, that, I had asked about. After the deal Bill went even one step better, when I told him that I needed a way to come and pick up my new Honda since my wife does not like driving the NJ Parkway. Bill, himself, made arrangements to pick me up to get the new Honda.
Bill never waivered from his even tempered personality, even when I arrived to finalize the deal late in the day on a very busy day with many people there to see him. You could see that he was a touch worn, but that was the only sign of this seemingly hectic day for him. He didn’t seem to miss a beat finishing up with the other people, and then moving on to us.
When I saw him two days later, you could see that he was well refreshed, and he told me that the other day was an extremely busy day for him. I told him that was good news.
On the day of pickup I went into the parts department to buy something for my new car. I met the manager there, Jason Woods, he treated me right on that purchase, and extended an offer to call him, if he could ever be of assistance.
I feel confident that life after the deal will also be a pleasant experience for many years, and I could then look to DCH Kay Honda for my next car, shortly down the road.
