I understand your frustration. However, to be clear, everything was presented to you for your authorization. We informed you that the EBCM was bad before we did any work on your car. We also informed you the EBCM was discontinued by GM, but that they were working to obtain a new vender to make them available again. We then recommended the front brakes because they were worn out, and as well as a fluid exchange due to time and mileage. You approved all this work. You did not tell us you planned on trading out of the SRX and you decided this after all the work was done. As for your trade value, there was a difference of $200 between what we offered and what the other dealers offered you. We made what we believe was a fair offer for your SRX. I am not sure who you are Kevin Hand, but I never spoke to you before. And you were not there when I agreed to the work. Everything was not presented to me honestly before I authorized it. I was not told, until after the other work was completed that the EBCM (which by the way is Electronic Brake Control Module which controls the ABS system and power steering, so is a very necessary part for safely driving the car) could not be obtained at all by GM because they lost their vendor and could not be repaired and could not be taken from another car because it is VIN # specific. Actually the VIN # specific information came from the General Manager, Jim Signorile, much later. And contrary to what he said I was never told that the part was on back order. Once I found out about the part, I called other Cadillac dealers and was told the same thing, that it was not possible to get the part and they didn't expect it to be possible. So the dealership knew I would have to trade the car in but I did not. I had no choice but trade the car in. I couldn't keep driving it without power steering and Anti skid brakes.
