My Review of Honda Carland North:
Took my son's 96 Acura TL to Honda Carland North on Friday morning, 12/16/11, to fix a loud noise coming from the engine area, and to have them check if anything else needed to be done. Shawn called me later that day and told me that the air conditioning compressor needed to be replaced. Since the car was 15 years old, I asked him if anything else was wrong, and he told me that the timing belt needed to be replaced and that the oil seal behind it was leaking. I asked him if anything else seemed wrong since I did not want to invest any money in the car if they suspected anything else would break. Shawn assured me the car was worth fixing and that the engine, transmission, and everything else looked fine.

To fix the compressor, Shawn told me it would cost $944, and another $900 or so to replace the timing belt and oil seal. Finally, after much thought and discussion with the Shawn, I decided to have the compressor replaced and to wait until my son could afford to replace the timing belt. That evening the weekend service manager called me and told me that they had replaced the compressor, but they could not get it to work. He said that after their mechanic had replaced it he realized it had been rewired (by a previous owner), and he could not get it to work.

On Monday, Shawn called me and told me the same thing as the weekend service manager, and that Honda Carland North could not fix it. He told me that I would have to take it to the Acura dealership to have them fix it. I was thinking that I had taken it to them because Honda and Acura are the same company, and if they could not fix it, why did they give me a quote and assurance beforehand that they could. I picked my car up, and paid them $944 for a new compressor replacement that was not working.

Now I still need to take it to the Acura dealership to have them figure out how to make the new compressor work and to replace the timing belt. I hope the Acura dealership is more honest about what they can fix than this dealership.

12/30/11 Update: Yesterday, the Acura dealership called me after I had taken the car to them. Before installing a timing belt, they told me that their diagnostics indicated that I was having a transmission problem. I thanked them for letting me know before I invested any more money in the car.

Honda Carland North had told me the transmission was fine and then installed a compressor that is not operational costing me $944. Sounds like they either didn't know anything about working on my Acura or they took me for the $944.

My Review of Honda Carland North:
I purchased a used 2005 Honda Accord LX from this dealership. I found this car on autotrader.com and based on the sell price ($9,500 for a 77K car), www.dealerrater.com rating, CarFax report, and PureCars Value Report, my comfort level for buying a used car increased. I purchased the car from JR who made this a very easy buying experience. The car was in excellent condition so obviously their service dept had put this used car in excellent condition. JR had me in and out in no time. When I got back home, I noticed only the driver's window was working. I called the service dept and Wayne Reed assisted me. He tried talking me through some fixes but nothing worked. I returned to dealership and Wayne had his service techs find and resolve the issue at no additional cost to me even though this was a used car with no warranty. He even offered to provide me a car if he needed to keep my car overnight. I am very impressed with this dealership in both sales and service. They have far exceeded my expectations for buying a USED CAR and HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!

My Review of Honda Carland North:
I thought I would surprise my wife with a new Pilot and I went the internet route by going through several dealers to get a good out the door price. I received prices from all the vendors and HCN was the highest. I made an offer to each dealer for the same trim package and the salesman from HCN left a voicemail to come on in that the offer was good and they wanted my business. That worked out great for me because they were my hometown dealer and we had purchased a new Civic from them last year.
I called right back and left a voicemail asking for an email accepting my offer but I never received one (sign #1). A couple days later, I texted the salesman to arrange a test drive and sign the papers and he said he wouldnt be in that day and that another salesman would show me the vehicle (sign#2). I called the dealer to arrange a test drive with his backup and went in that evening with intentions of buying the Pilot for the "agreed upon" price. When we arrived the salesman apologized for my original salesperson calling in sick (sign#3) on that day and he would take care of us. He showed us the vehicle and we went for a test drive and everything was kosher.
Then we got to the paperwork and the offer that got me in the dealership basically wasnt honored and a much higher price was offered to us. We replayed the voicemail to them where they "agreed" to my offer and they came off a couple thousand but nowhere near my other two prices from competitors. They also tried to call the "sick" salesman and werent able to reach him (sign#4).
So basically, we were duped, lied to, screwed, and lost a few hours of our lives we wont get back. I dont know if wouldve even mattered if we had anything in writing the way these guys operate. They also tried to steer me away from their competitors saying the prices they were offering were less than invoice (which they werent).
I ended up going down the road and getting a great deal and was treated like an educated consumer and not a sucker.

Bought a car from here looked nice ran great at first. Two weeks later it all starts messing up so I bring it in for a 9 am appointment. 3 hours later they still had not brought my car in to even look at it. What's the point of having an appointment if you don't get it in around that time. So now I'm late as Hell for work, they won't give me a rental due to they haven't figured out what is wrong with it and that I'm on my parents insurance even though everything else is under my name. This place is garbage. The workers are decently friendly but like all dealers two faced as hell. Strongly discourage anyone from coming to this place.

Having not had to deal with car dealers in some time, it was a very pleasant, "no pressure' experience. We were shown what we came to see and the salesman was very friendly and informative. When we decided to purchase, all the necessary paperwork was prepared in a timely manner and we were able to pick up the car a couple days later.

The folks we dealt with were courteous, friendly and knowledgeable. They did not try to sell us something other than what we came to look at. When we finally decided to purchase, all the paperwork was prepared in a timely manner and we were able to come back a couple days later to pick up the vehicle.

My Review of Honda Carland North:
I thought the dealership- at least the person who helped me- was fairly transparent. Jason showed me how to tell whether any of the car's original parts had been replaced so I didn't have to take his word for it. He also showed me several websites (like this one) where I could compare the ratings of all the dealerships I was considering. I think that one of the most most daunting anxieties for a first-time used car buyer, unless you work in some sector of the auto industry, is a lack of familiarity with the product, and the fear of being swindled lurks in the back of consumer minds throughout the razzle dazzle of this feature and that feature, which most can't distinguish from a breadbox. Jason did a good job educating me about the process and, most pleasantly surprising of all, did not try to rush me into a hasty decision. He listened to what I wanted, did his best to accommodate, and gave me all the time I needed to consider other options before I finally decided to buy from him.

It did take three+ weeks to get my title mailed to me, which (again, with the remarkable transparency) was something Jason had warned me up-front was the only recurring criticism they receive from customers, so I was already in the mindset of needing to keep a close eye on that. All I had to do was call and ask for the title department and they were happy to fix the delay; I still received the title in time to register my car before my grace period ended.

I made a deal on a Toyota pick-up (I have an email with time -date and price). I gave Jason my credit card to hold the truck- he also said he would move the truck to the back to safeguard it. This was about 2:30 Tuesday Oct. 4th. I told him I would drive the 600 miles round trip on the 5th. I get up at 5a.m. the 5th to start my trip and when I get to Atlanta I stopped to call Jason to give him my Ins. # and D.L. # he requested to start my paperwork. During the call I was told that the car was sold to someone else. I got sick to my stomach. Jason said he E-mailed me (9 am on the 5th it turns out). when I was already on the road. NO PHONE CALL ON THE (4th.) not to come. I read the e-mail he sent 10a.m. on the 5th which said they sold it to a higher bidder. I was told earlier on the way to pick up the truck , that it was a mix-up and that the 2 salesmen didn't know what the other was doing. That was a lie-the truth was they sold it to the highest bidder. I have the e-mail to prove it. What kind of business are you guys running? I have never been treated so badly in my life. I look forward to your making it right. I missed a day of work & gas and car wear. Call and tell me why I should not take other action against your company.

(Aug 2nd) We wanted a new Honda Accord Sedan and out of our Chrysler!! Went in on a monday night bout 7.40p.m. Not so busy. Saw Joe Flannigan who came up to us and started to ask us what we were looking at , monthly payments we desired, and add on's for that car. By time we sat down and crunched numbers it was getting late. Joe still stayed put and was determined to make a deal that suited both parties. After a long hr and half if not more( 9.30p.m) and plenty of, Na you can do better, and Joe DID!!! We were still hammering it out! He got us in the end, a brand new Metalic dark grey Honda, got us out of our chrysler, lowered our monthly payments, .9 interest rate, 5 yrs to pay off, we added on a front lip, fog lights, he filled the car up with a full tank of gas, said parts would be in, in 2 days, which they were, took car back next day to be detailed. Perfection! Every little flaw i saw they cleaned and fixed!!!!! Joe ended up staying well into 10 p.m that night without fail to get us the car WE wanted !!!!! The parts were on my car within 4 days and i got my windows tinted that sat!!!! Thats awesome customer service, i have had some nightmares at dealerships and ran into a few con artists,but its nice to find a place thats cares about YOU. I went back to the service area next day and dealt with Rodey who was super sweet too, took real good care of me that day and they do a grt suttle service! No messing around with the guys down at Honda Carland in Cartersville!!!!!!!!! If you need a grt deal and someone who truly gives a crap.......See JOE FLANNIGAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He know's how to do his job. He will get you what YOU want in the end. Thanks Joe and everyone at Honda Carland in Cartersville!!!!!!!!! I LOVE MY NEW HONDA!!!!!!!!!!!!
