TERRIBLE. I can't stress how BAD my experience was here. I went with my father to look at cars. We stopped at this dealership (HUGE mistake) The salesman Manny, who has only been working for "4 weeks" ga I went with my father to look at cars. We stopped at this dealership (HUGE mistake) The salesman Manny, who has only been working for "4 weeks" gave us a good price on a lease for a 2010 Jetta. I wanted to also check out other dealerships. When we left there, Manny called my father, asking us politely to come back and negotiate. This seemed like a good idea at the time, because I had decided I wanted to go with a Volkswagen. Before we returned Manny and my father negotiated at a price and Manny said that would be the price we would pay. I can't stress how many times on the phone, and after we arrived back we went over the lease price and all of the other figures. I was having my mother co-sign with me and we were going to go pick the car up Monday. Monday came, and my mother called them in the morning to give her information. They faxed my father a form, in which my mother and I filled out for them to review and check her credit. Craig, in the finance department, called back in 5 minutes when Manny said it would take 30 minutes. Craig told my mother that it would not work, which we did not understand because my mother had good credit. They said they still had to 'prep' the car and it wouldn't be ready until the next day (Tuesday). So Today, (Tuesday) we faxed over my Step-father's information. No call back. My mother called and left a message. Two hours passed and still no call back. She called again and asked if he was there, whoever answered was going to give her a voicemail again and she said she already left a message and she would wait. Craig got on the phone and said he 'didn't get to it yet, but was going to check now.' She asked if he could call her cell phone and not my step father, because he is a football coach and he was on the field for practice. Craig so not a problem. Well, Craig ends up calling my step father anyway and telling him the credit part was good to go, but in order to do this, it would be another 20-30 dollars a more a month. Well, on Saturday night when my father and I went, we left them a 500 dollar deposit with the information stating it would be the agreed price. I just checked my bank statement and they cashed my check, AFTER everything that happened. I would never ever tell my WORST enemy to do business with anyone from this dealership. They are liars and crooks. You do expect this to some degree with dealerships, but this is the WORST by far. The only reason i rated the price at 1 was because I did not want to have their average to be any higher. More
Same story: Carl Jenkins was non responsive until I said, "I'll be buying a car somewhere this week, call me if you want to sell a car." Finally he calls. I agree to come in only to find the car in the backl "I'll be buying a car somewhere this week, call me if you want to sell a car." Finally he calls. I agree to come in only to find the car in the backlot, outside, covered in dirt with tall grass growing all around the car. It's like I'm looking at my Grandpa's '58' ride in the fields out back. I'm willing to overlook this though as I'm a patient man. Turns out I'm missing a paper for the clunkers application. This is a Saturday, so on Monday Carl calls to "express the urgency" of the situation regarding this paperwork. I have that morning already gone to the DMV, so I immediately fax him what he needs. I then leave a message to confirm he got it. No response until that evening when he calls to say he can't read the fax. Geez Carl, why did you wait so long to call me back? I thought this was "very urgent". Regardless, I head out to the street, find a copy place, and have a copy of the document scanned/emailed to him within 10 minutes of his late, but urgent call. I then again attempt to get confirmation, right then and there, that he got my email but he does not respond for 2 days (didn't he just urgently call me 10 mins ago?). When he finally does respond, he tells me he that he needs more DMV paperwork "URGENTLY", even though it took him two days to get back to me with any kind of confirmation that he got the first document. This basically keeps happening until finally, some days later, he tells me he has what he needs, except my car. Joe Heidt Motors wants to hold my car until the Govnmt gives them the clunkers rebate. I have a little girl who I take to daycare, I was actually moving homes that very week, and all of the other things one does with their car/family: giving them the car is a huge inconvenience for me, if they are not offering to sell me/give me the new car at the same time. But they are not offering that. They are only offering to hold my car. The Clunkers (CARS) program states explicitly that the dealer is to hand over the new car once they have possesion of the clunker and then wait for the government rebate. This is public information available to absolutely anyone in 2 minutes on the web. However, being extremely understanding, I recognize that there is a certain risk to them so I say sure, you can hold my car, but can you help me with a temp vehicle or rental or something? Anything? Nope. Nothing. They won't even talk about it. I have to ask, "will you at least drop me back at a train station??" I drop the car. Then I hear nothing for two weeks. Not even a peep. Finally Carl responds to me and says, I don't know anything, the internet keeps crashing. Finally, I decide I'm done. I'm about to give them $24,000 and they have done absolutely zero to sell this car to me. They never even once stated that the car was good, nice, or anything. They couldn't even be bothered to clean it up. Carl Jenkins in particular would respond to requests only at his leisure with half information. These are a bunch of guys who are too lazy to try and convince you to buy their car or, in my case, just keep me interested long enough to pay them. If Carl Jenkins had made even the most minimal effort to sell his car, he'd have sold it a week ago. These guys are a joke. You can drive 10 mins down the road to the following dealership, get the same car, and have a dealer who understands that you are about to part with thousands of dollars of your hard earned money. I was willing to give up a $4,500 Government rebate to NOT buy a car from Joe Heidt; that's pretty bad. I called the head of internet services Carl Jenkins at this dealership. Obviously he knows that people are shopping through the internet these days. I asked him to send me information and he never did. this dealership. Obviously he knows that people are shopping through the internet these days. I asked him to send me information and he never did. Once he realized that I was probably not going to buy a car from him he was rude and offensive and didn't return my phone calls. I would never buy a car from this dealer if this is how they treat their customers and this is their HEAD of internet services. HORRENDOUS!!!!!! More
This is the second time I've walked out of Joe Heidt when trying to purchase a vehicle. The first time was in 2000 and they still have the most inept group of salesmen I've ever been witness to. I sent an trying to purchase a vehicle. The first time was in 2000 and they still have the most inept group of salesmen I've ever been witness to. I sent an email requesting info about an Internet promotion they had. Salesperson Carl Jenkins quickly responded and asked to set up a time to come in to discuss in person. Fair enough. How about 6pm (they are open until 8pm) on Friday. I didn't hear back but went anyway. I walk in with wife and young daughter. No greeting. No Carl Jenkins. Two "salesmen" sitting at their desks and not getting up. Another salesman whining like a baby about a customer giving him a hard time on the phone. The "manager" took over the phone call because the salesman couldn't get it together. After several minutes of being ignored, I say out loud in the direction of the salesmen..."if anyone wants to sell a car to me today, I'll be outside." So we go walking around the lot to check out the cars. 10 minutes go by...no one comes out. I walk back to the dealership and it's the same pathetic scene. I urge anyone who is considering a VW to look elsewhere. This is the tackiest, classless sales team you've ever seen with a dumpy dealership to go along with it. STRIKE TWO for Joe Heidt. I will NEVER go back to buy a car from this dealership or from anyone that works there. More
Almost Knocked this guy out. By the grace of god I calmed myself down enough to keep my clenched, shaking fist at my side. So here's what happened. I was looking at the r32 and really liked the car a lot. Af myself down enough to keep my clenched, shaking fist at my side. So here's what happened. I was looking at the r32 and really liked the car a lot. After the test drive we went inside to talk numbers. I said that my reason for coming in was to get a first look at the r32 and do some real thinking, but that I would probably be ready to pull the trigger on a deal within a week or so. He told me he could hold the car for a week with a refundable deposit of $200. Completely refundable, even gave me it in writing. Because I really liked the car, I figured I would go ahead and leave the deposit. Unfortunately a few days later I found out my fiance would need surgery and that our insurance would only cover about half of the money. I knew that I would no longer be able to buy a new car. I went in today (11/28/08) to get my $200 back. I see this guy standing there. I make it short and sweet and say that I simply want my money back. He starts asking me all types of pushy questions about why that is which i understood on a certain level, its his job. I say its really a personal issue and the sale is no longer under discussion and that I apologize. Then this guy brings the manager, and he starts getting pushy with me. I keep saying listen, i just want my money back and i dont have to explain myself. Greg gives me receipt for my refunded money and then tells me to get the f**k outa here and that I'm a xxxxx for asking for my deposit back considering all the help he gave me and then tells me to f**k myself, all in front customers on the showroom floor. I was so shocked that I didnt know what to say. I just laughed in his face and walked out and call him an xxxxxx moron. He then follows me out, gets in my face and yells at me again. At this point Im yelling at the top of my lungs and I tell him that if he doesnt remove himself from my personal space immediatly or I will do so myself. He then turned around and went back inside. If you want to deal with pushy, arrogant, slimeball car salesman who wear cheap cologne and even cheaper suits, then this is your place. Just look out for your own health if you walk out and dont buy one of their cars, because apparently these guys like to engage in fisticuffs when this happens. More
I can't believe the horrible dialog I overheard while trying to shop for a new car. There is this black? man in the Service Department who is obviously prejudice working there. A spanish salesman was s trying to shop for a new car. There is this black? man in the Service Department who is obviously prejudice working there. A spanish salesman was stating how warm it was in the showroom, which was correct, so this black man had the nerve to say, "well, you're Puerto Rican, you should be able to handle the heat." If I worked there I would have been on the phone with the Labor Board. No one, including customers, should be subjected to talk of that nature. I will NOT buy a car there until that man is GONE. AND I will tell all my friends and neighbors in Upper Saddle River and the people in my church in Alpine to go elsewhere. I have purchased vehicles from Heidt in the past and even though I think the world of the "old" service department staff I will not deal with someone with no integrity. More
Believe it or not, I had nothing but pleasant experiences with Joe Heidt. My 2003 Passat had a problem with the trunk lock. The lock would open while I was driving & I had to pull my car on the shoulder to with Joe Heidt. My 2003 Passat had a problem with the trunk lock. The lock would open while I was driving & I had to pull my car on the shoulder to keep my truck from flying open. Whenever I brought the car back (at least 5 times), before it was finally fixed properly, they were nothing but accommodating, helpful & polite. Ultimately they did fix the lock properly. Then on 6-21-06 I was rear-ended by a pick-up truck on a bridge. My car was declared totalled & I plan on buying a 2006 Jetta. More
