My Review of Joe Heidt Motors:
Same story: Carl Jenkins was non responsive until I said, "I'll be buying a car somewhere this week, call me if you want to sell a car." Finally he calls. I agree to come in only to find the car in the backlot, outside, covered in dirt with tall grass growing all around the car. It's like I'm looking at my Grandpa's '58' ride in the fields out back. I'm willing to overlook this though as I'm a patient man.
Turns out I'm missing a paper for the clunkers application. This is a Saturday, so on Monday Carl calls to "express the urgency" of the situation regarding this paperwork. I have that morning already gone to the DMV, so I immediately fax him what he needs. I then leave a message to confirm he got it. No response until that evening when he calls to say he can't read the fax. Geez Carl, why did you wait so long to call me back? I thought this was "very urgent". Regardless, I head out to the street, find a copy place, and have a copy of the document scanned/emailed to him within 10 minutes of his late, but urgent call. I then again attempt to get confirmation, right then and there, that he got my email but he does not respond for 2 days (didn't he just urgently call me 10 mins ago?). When he finally does respond, he tells me he that he needs more DMV paperwork "URGENTLY", even though it took him two days to get back to me with any kind of confirmation that he got the first document. This basically keeps happening until finally, some days later, he tells me he has what he needs, except my car. Joe Heidt Motors wants to hold my car until the Govnmt gives them the clunkers rebate. I have a little girl who I take to daycare, I was actually moving homes that very week, and all of the other things one does with their car/family: giving them the car is a huge inconvenience for me, if they are not offering to sell me/give me the new car at the same time. But they are not offering that. They are only offering to hold my car. The Clunkers (CARS) program states explicitly that the dealer is to hand over the new car once they have possesion of the clunker and then wait for the government rebate. This is public information available to absolutely anyone in 2 minutes on the web. However, being extremely understanding, I recognize that there is a certain risk to them so I say sure, you can hold my car, but can you help me with a temp vehicle or rental or something? Anything? Nope. Nothing. They won't even talk about it. I have to ask, "will you at least drop me back at a train station??" I drop the car. Then I hear nothing for two weeks. Not even a peep. Finally Carl responds to me and says, I don't know anything, the internet keeps crashing.
Finally, I decide I'm done. I'm about to give them $24,000 and they have done absolutely zero to sell this car to me. They never even once stated that the car was good, nice, or anything. They couldn't even be bothered to clean it up. Carl Jenkins in particular would respond to requests only at his leisure with half information.
These are a bunch of guys who are too lazy to try and convince you to buy their car or, in my case, just keep me interested long enough to pay them. If Carl Jenkins had made even the most minimal effort to sell his car, he'd have sold it a week ago.
These guys are a joke. You can drive 10 mins down the road to the following dealership, get the same car, and have a dealer who understands that you are about to part with thousands of dollars of your hard earned money. I was willing to give up a $4,500 Government rebate to NOT buy a car from Joe Heidt; that's pretty bad.
