Jon Gonyer was very helpful, knowledgeable and personable, that goes a lone way in my book! Every employee we walked by asked if we had been helped yet, that was good to hear while we were there! personable, that goes a lone way in my book! I will preface this review in stating that against my better judgment based on past experiences, I decided to try to purchase a new vehicle from Phillips. I can emphatically state that anyone looking to better judgment based on past experiences, I decided to try to purchase a new vehicle from Phillips. I can emphatically state that anyone looking to purchase a new vehicle would do well to stay as far away from this dealership as humanly possible. A couple of years ago, I attempted to purchase a new Ram 1500, of which I received the runaround and decided to look elsewhere. Fast forward to this year and we had to take my wife's 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited in for service and Phillips was the closest, so we had it serviced there. After several days, and the car going back in twice, in which the original issue wasn't fixed or diagnosed, they tried to charge me twice to diagnose a problem they never fixed to begin with. After almost a week, we got the car back. This past Sunday, we decided to try to trade the car in and purchase new. I went in Sunday and decided on a vehicle. I left the dealership on Sunday with the dealership refusing to value my trade in, of which has a large amount of equity, and refused to honor a national affiliate program. After a few calls on Monday, including having to specifically request the GM contact me after he passed my call off to a lower manager, he called and stated that they would accept the national affiliate program. We came back in on Monday evening and they offered an insulting amount for our trade in. Once again, no manager even attempted to care about even selling a vehicle because Lou was too busy sitting around joking and laughing around with finance managers to bother to talk to us or even attempt to save a deal until we almost walked into the office and force him to talk to us. Phillips absolutely refused to honor their claim of "thousands over Kelly Blue Book" and would not work with us on the price of the vehicle, using Covid and low inventory as reasons to not work with us. We decided today that we really wanted the car, and contacted the sales rep and told him that we would take the deal. About 15 minutes later we received a call from Dale who advised us that "because of everything that happened this week" they were refusing to sell us the car. He kept saying that the decision wasn't personal, just that they were electing not to sell us the car and would not provide a reason. He finally stated that the reason they weren't selling is the car was because of a negative review I left on Facebook, which contained factual information regarding my multiple negative experiences with this dealership over the last couple of years. So, basically, they decided not to sell me a vehicle, despite having pre-approval which would allow me to buy the car without even having to trade in the other vehicle and large trade equity, all because someone got their feelings hurt over a Facebook post. There are other cars and plenty of other dealerships in Florida that want to sell cars with little hassle. If you can go somewhere else, by all means avoid Phillips CJDR. The only person they hurt in this whole process, is the salesperson who worked with us. Phillips would rather have cars sit on a lot and age than sell them. More
We recently moved to the Ocala area and unfortunately, we got a screw in our tire. We purchased our 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited from a Jeep dealer in Tampa, and also purchased the additional coverage t got a screw in our tire. We purchased our 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited from a Jeep dealer in Tampa, and also purchased the additional coverage they offered (road hazard, scheduled maintenance, and extended warranty) through Fidelity Warranty Services, Inc., which is very reputable and used across the US. We stopped in our local Jeep dealer (Phillips) so they could fix the tire and were quite dismayed to find out that they do not take ANY “third-party” coupons (even though we bought them through Jeep). The service advisor we spoke to (Jeffery Smith) explained to us that it just takes too long to receive reimbursement and they have to provide too much documentation and then have to wait months before getting reimbursed. After several minutes of going back and forth with him, he said “listen, we will patch it for free this time but in the future they won’t”. We thanked him and started the paperwork. He said he had a few oil changes in front of us but he would get to us as soon as he could. Just as we got to the service lounge and sat down Jeffery came to us and asked, “Are you going to pay for this?”. We said that he told us he would do it for free and he said “[He] would have go through the service manager and it would take a long time and that he would probably get in trouble.” We were at their mercy at this point and agreed to pay to plug the tire ($28). Additionally, 4 other vehicles that came in after ours were completed and out before us! We waited almost 2 hours for a simple tire patch. After this experience we called our original Jeep dealer financial advisor and explained the issue. He spoke with his general manager and neither of them had ever heard of a dealer not accepting Fidelity’s coverage. Likewise, we have used our prepaid maintenance coupons near our previous home. They suggested we email Fidelity our receipt for reimbursement—we did and it took less than a week to receive our reimbursement check for the full amount! After our experience with Phillips of Ocala, we will NEVER go back to Phillips for service, nor would we even consider buying a vehicle from them—and we live just minutes from them! We have since called the Gainesville and Inverness Jeep dealers (both about 40 minutes away) to see if they would take our additional coverage and were told by both it would be no problem. We decided to go to Inverness for other warranty work and they were friendly, courteous, and timely! More
So if I was able to not put a star I would .This was the worst expert ce I've had I had a recall on my 2024 Dodge Charger arrived at 10:30 am had an 11 am appt no problem arrive they ask what service I said worst expert ce I've had I had a recall on my 2024 Dodge Charger arrived at 10:30 am had an 11 am appt no problem arrive they ask what service I said software recall no problem take my car no other questions asked about the vehicle other than will I be waiting or dropping off after about an hour the service guy comes to me and said well we did your recall but now your car won't start? Then the question is asked has your car been modified by chance .why wouldn't that question be asked before the update as a precaution to assure it's not going to mess things up or give me the option to not have it done .long story short I am stuck at dodge for 5 hrs no vehicle and no solution or any idea on how this will be fixed other than it's not dodge fault. eventually, I towed my vehicle from dodge at my expense and now had to pay $500 to get it fixed again at my expense with dodge not offering any assistance I will tell everyone I come in contact with never to use this dealership and post on all social media platforms to help spread the word The worst experience ever!
